Car Show in Imperial, Missouri

Hi guys,

I went to a nice local show today to support the Band Boosters at Windsor Highschool in Imperial, Missouri. This was the school district where my kids went to school and was only 6-miles from me. It was a Top 25 format show, although I suspect the lone judge essentially turned it into a Top 13 show by purposely trying to pick an equal amount of classic vs. modern cars. Regardless, I was fortunate to crack the Top 25. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Thanks Keith, I really appreciate your compliment on my car. My Dad bought a new Bug in '74 as a commuter car. I drove the hell out of that car in Highschool, you couldn't make that thing quit running, plus it got around great in the Michigan Snow.

Yep, you called it. Here's some Oldsmobiles for ya though, taken at our St. Louis Oldsmobile Club Show last September.

Is that a Sebring yellow 442 or a Rallye 350?

I think that's a 1953 7-window Chevrolet Thriftmaster (I owned the GMC equivalent if that's a '53). Excellent truck. That purple 1996 Chevrolet S-10 is just....weird. Thanks for sharing the pics, Chris.

Good call on the truck Norm, it's a '53. I had never heard the Model name "Thriftmaster" until I saw the badging on that truck. Really cool truck! I agree 100% on that purple S10 Blazer, it's just goofy. Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Nice pics Chris. Norm, would that Thriftmaster be the 217 C.I. that GMC shared w/Pontiac, or the 235 C.I.

Dan - I don't know. I restored that '53 GMC between 1977-1979 & I didn't do any real comparisons. The engine didn't need much work - I can't even recalled what I did with it. I know it was an inline straight-6 & I seem to recall it was the last of the 228 cid engines developed by GMC to replace the Pontiac 223 cid. At the time I was simply interested in the restoration of what I owned/bought.
