Anyone caught in this storm?

Live on the Eastern shore of MD. So far about 8 inches of the white stuff. Could see another foot. We almost never get this much be digging out for a week. Later this afternoon hope to sneak out in the garage and do a little work on the cutlass.

Sunny and mild here in TX... That storm is a severe one, causing about as many problems as one inch in TX.

Post some pictures of the snow if you can - I miss natural winter landscapes...

Stay warm and keep safe!

Started falling here this afternoon up on Long Island. Only about 1 inch so far but there telling us that we will have blizzard conditions tonight into tomorrow. We're supposed to get about 12-18" of that fluffy stuff. Kids are excited but I'm not happy about shoveling all that sh@$$%$%!

Took the Cutlass out for a ride this am figuring it would be a while until the next time.

As of 5:00 PM, there's about 15" on the ground and it's still snowing. I'm 50 miles west of Washington DC.

The original forecast was 12-20" here. Happy to say there's only about 8" on the ground, but that's about 8" too much for me. At least it's not ice, which is what we usually get... I'll take a foot of snow over a 1/4 inch of ice any day.

At 53, I was glad to see a guy going around clearing walks and cars. Worth $15 to not have to do it. I don't have to go anywhere so I'm staying put barring an emergency here or at the other house, but the truck and driveway are clean if I have to. I have food, heat, movies and ClassicOldsmobile to entertain me, so I'm set. I also have Christmas cards to get done...

Almost took the kid around the corner to work though. He has a ricerocket with a pretty low chin spoiler and he could not move- that spoiler is like a plow in this mess. Works at Ruby Tuesday and they called him while he was trying to leave for work and said they were closing at 5 and no need to come in. And I thought I was gonna get a free meal out of it...

Both were LOL!

We have about 5" now and it's complete whiteout outside. Can barely see my Christmas lights.

For those of you stuck in the storm hunker down and be safe! It sounds like a good time to sit in front of the fire and sip your favorite beverage!

Jamesbo.... That's funny!!!! We have an inch or so... it's been the very fine little flakes all day. We do have ice in a lot of places - the temps have been going down all day, and the roads just look wet. I was out shopping most of the day, and it was getting slickery on the way home around 5:00. I have the news on now, and it's looking pretty ugly in D.C. - weather wise, that is - and the areas around there. They're calling for us to be getting snow Christmas Eve and Christmas day... hope it doesn't get too bad. You all stay safe!!

Looks like most of the snow is going to pass south of here. South west N.S. could get 4-5 inches and further north and west they are calling for rain. Well the weather is pretty screwy cause I was watching the weather channel and they had a bit on about how the artic was getting rain a couple days ago and up in canada's far north inside the artic circle the ice is not freezing up which means hard times for them cause they count on the ice to hunt seal and narwhale and things like that. I'm all for shipping the cold and snow back up there where they really want it.

Well, it took me 8 hours but I got the driveway cleaned out. We got at least 24" if not more. Hard to tell because some of the drifts are 4 feet high.

Oh well, time for a beer!

Ya just gotta look in the right dictionary!!!!
http://www3.merriam-webster.com/open...ord_search.php
(adjective) : The combination of slick and slippery is slickery.
The roads are very slickery.

Jamesbo.... it's time to get a new monkey!

I bet Darrell knows what it means! LOL!

Temp got in the mid 40s here today so a lot of it melted. Tonight's low is forecast for 23 degrees, so tomorrow morning is going to be as bad or worse than yesterday for slick roads. Black ice is already forming here in the city at 10 PM. I hate to think about driving those backroads to work in the morning.

Weather guessers are making noise about freezing rain Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Something tells me this is going to be a schitty winter.

Got 8 to 22 in the Boston area, around 13 where I am south of Boston. It blew out to sea so western Mass got next to nothing. The 70 Cutlass slept during the whole thing.

Well we got about 1&1/2 inches last night and some flurries this morning but changing to rain this afternoon. most of the system blew out to sea underneath us . You all need to organize a xmas eve blow What's that ? Well get everybody to go outdoors at midnight EST on xmas eve and stand pointing to the north. At the stroke of midnight everybody blow as hard as you can for at least one hour. It might work if you convince all those left and right wing blowhards

I sure hope so - you need to drive the '48 down, too!

I know a few individuals who could blow the system away by themselves. Of course so much hot air at one time could cause some severe storms...

Most likely from Pleasant Grove. There are souvenir shirts that were sold here that showed a body being tossed into a car trunk. Funny but unfortunately, accurate...

I heard about that storm that is supposed to hit out in the midwest - sounds pretty ugly... I have a sister in Chapman KS and a neice and her family... I worry about them. You stay safe if it hits your area, and have a Merry Christmas!

Looks like lots of folks down in parts of the U.S. are going to have a white xmas this year. Not sure about here yet , right now we have a couple inches on the ground but it's almost 9 am and starting to sprinkle rain.Sunny and just below freezing tomorrow so it should still be around.
This has been a hard xmas for my girlfriend , her mom passed away Dec.1 and her uncle just passed away on Monday. Christmas dinner is at her Dad's this year , something that has been planned for quite a while.
I heard that more people die in the month of Dec. than any other month of the year.

Wolfie... I am very sorry to hear that. Give my sympathy to your girlfriend. I too have had family pass away in December.... there's never a good time, but right before holidays is harder. I lost my mom right before my birthday. That was hard. Still is. A girl needs her mom.

We have a little weak sun right now, supposed to cloud up (there's a surprise) and rain late tonight and it's going to drop below freezing so maybe a "mix", but turning to rain tomorrow and temps going to the 40's! Heat wave! Supposed to be very windy tomorrow too.

They may need you and that big tractor out in our Midwest area so folks can travel for the holiday! Stay on standby!!!

You and your girlfriend try to have a Merry Christmas, and stay safe!!

Did they have any damage from the tornado last year?

Calling for near blizzard conditions tonight. Feed cattle and cut more wood this morning and hopefully stay in the house 'till tomorrow morning.
Did pick up some Nutcracker Ale to keep me happy.
