Allen posted a good by statement a while back on the clubhouse forum. This was in the middle of another post but you could probably find it with a search, as I remember no reason was given Just that he was done. Hope things get better and he returns..... Tedd

A few comments.

First, if you're referring to the person I think you're referring to, his username is "Allan R," not "Allen." If you searched under "Allen," you wouldn't find his posts.

Second, he posted this, as noted, in the clubhouse forum in the "New Good-morning" thread as the last posting on this page. It was a terse, two-sentence comment.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...hread-451.html

Third, I would take this with a grain of salt because he did this once before. Big announcement about how he was "retiring" from classicolds because it was taking too much of his time, etc. Two months later, he was back. He might come back again this time. It would be too bad if he really is gone for good this time. He is a fount of knowledge. We'll have to wait and see.

Can we like, spit down the bore of a quadrajet and rub some valve covers together and summon him back?

I spoke with him and he's doing well. He has some personal issues to contend with and needs a break.

And that music --- It's just noise!

I suspect Allan just got spooked about what happens to people who hit 20,000 posts, and didn't want to take any chances.

I'm not completely sure, but someone is going to find out really soon...

I hear it's something like that thing at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Yeah, instead of the Burning Bed it could be called the Burning Carb. I mean if it's on the Hallmark channel the guy has to get nailed somehow at the end!

I heard something about having to go on a dinner date with Martha Stewart. That can scare someone right over to Mopar

Doing well...busy as all get out.

So let's see...Retired from the .mil in 2013. Finished an Associate's degree at a junior college while picking up the trombone again after 17 years!!! Finishing my undergrad at UH (pre-law)...fell in love with playing again, and now I'm a double major (general degree / trombone performance) at UH. Somewhere along the way I was playing in the church orchestra and got noticed by some of the big wigs at our church (Second Baptist Houston) and was begged to work for them. So last August I added the title of Worship Producer to my resume and now I'm doing all 3 (work / degree(s)).

So...all that in mind, I'm working 7 days a week and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's a blast...life is crazy busy but we're all doing well. Almost forgot to add chemotherapy trial in there but eh, at this point it's just another pill. So far tumors are stable (for the second time) and there aren't any plans to take me off the trial drug. I don't mind the baldness, and in all, it's quite nice to be able to do what I'm doing AND chemotherapy at the same time. It makes the young "I can't..." guys look bad when the 35 y/o cancer patient works circles around them.

Anywho...that's probably the quickest synopses I can give about the last couple years. I'm sure I missed a thing or two but who's counting.

Wild Bill has been sitting for the last year (starter issues) because the starter I got (Powermaster 9510) didn't fit with the Thorley headers I have. I was planning for the A/R Stainless headers...I tried to have the CSR rebuilt but it was too far gone, or so CSR said so I gave up. I've been too busy to mess with it since. Just got a CVR starter and MSD (Mallory) fuel pump & regulator from Summit, they'll be here next week or so. I think it's time to get the car running again...a year is long enough.

Oh, and I'm a CHL (License to Carry now) instructor as well and that's been keeping me busy somewhat. I've decided the money I make from classes is going into the car and low and behold I still need wheels and tires. I was looking for Brian's comment on the biggest I could go when I figured I might as well stop in and say hello...and here we are

Guess that about sums it up...how have things been going up in the big D?

P.S. 15X10 5.5" B/S Billet Specialties Street Lites and 325/50/15 MT E.T. S/R are going on the back of Wild Bill just as soon as they print those wheels out and put them on my doorstep

Maybe we should plan to go there sometime to catch up. It's been too long!

Dan, I've never experienced being dead, what does it feel like?

I was directed to a thread you commented in about my 'absence'. FWIW, you misinterpreted or misunderstood the terms of my post on the TNGMT. I was 'done' with it, and it alone. By coincidence a situation that arose that simply required me to be away for some time. It was relaxing and enjoyable. Don't tell me you missed me?

I don't plan to return to TNGMT as there is an irreconcilable difference with one of the members that I don't wish to relive, nor discuss. I never said I was done with CO, now I have some 'catching up' to do. Sabbaticals are nice, and I've enjoyed a wonderful winter curling season, and vacations to warm climes.

Plans are to continue work my 72 this year BTW. Likely it will need a new thread.

The comment was figurative. That's at least twice that I'm aware of that you've announced you're going away for good, only to turn up some time later.

Whatever the reason, yes, we did miss you.

What is TNGMT?
Uh, no. As I said, I was done with the TNGMT. (The New Good Morning Thread). Perhaps my choice of words could have been more precise, but it was only to let members of that thread know I was leaving it. Apparently that ended up going more viral than intended? Sorry if that caused any confusion, but IMO taking it beyond the scope of TNGMT was an assumption. I have stayed in touch with quite a few members, conversationally, away from this site, and have posted on the CO FB site occasionally.

You're right - I did say goodbye one time fully expecting it was my last post back in May of 2013. That was a critical life altering moment in my life BTW and it caught me completely off guard. Since then I've learned to live in moderation, and direct my energies appropriately. Ok, we're good then. This last absence was simply a sabbatical, not a goodbye, ok? Gee, you must be excited. You forgot to put the word "least", or delete the word "at" in your post. Where's the darned grammar police when you need them?? Just having some fun here.
