It's that time again for the New England Olds Club to hold their annual all-Oldsmobile show. It will be held Sunday September 14th from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Southington drive-in in Plantsville, CT. The address is 995 Meridan-Waterbury Turnpike. The rain date is Sunday September 21st, if necessary. The flyer for the show with the complete details is on their website at www.neolds.com For all of you in the New England area this is the one show you don't want to miss.
For those coming from eastern Mass, I'll be at the Charlton rest stop on the Mass Pike (RT 90) westbound at 7:30 AM. We can caravan together, leaving no later than 8:00. I'm hoping for good weather and a great turn-out.
I say, if my 50th High School reunion were 2 weeks earlier I could have made this show, since I'll be back in northern NJ for the festivities. The NEOC show is a can't miss!
I am.
Just finished cleaning/detailing the car in preparation for tomorrow. Just have to fill the tank in the morning before I head out. I'll be at the Charlton rest stop by 7:30.
Will see you there! I’m probably hitting the road around 6am or so.
Need to get home and back out in the garage to detail the car a bit for tomorrow and button up the rear end that’s draining out as we speak. Probably going to be a late night as we’re goofing off at the beach house this afternoon.
I just swooped in around 10 AM and walked away with a runner up plaque! I'm as surprised as anyone!. It helps that there weren't a lot of cars in class 2, 1964 to 1972 except Cutlass, 442, and Toro.
Of course, that means mine was one of only a handful of cars of that vintage at the show. Lots of great cars, I can post some pictures!
I'll upload some pictures now, Charlie. There were a slew of Cutlass and 442's, but I spent more time looking at the the big cars, so most of my pictures were of some great full sized Oldsmobiles
let start with this one- it won best of show last year, a 1963 model 98 in rose pink. I swear there's a sparkle to the paint the camera doesn't pick up, and the cloth inserts on the seats also appeared to sparkle as if there was a metallic weave in the fabric. Buckets with a tee handle console shifter- I did not know they offered this in the 1963 model 98. Note the chrome on the grille, and the air cleaner on this huge 394 high compression engine. Everything on this car is spotless.
This would have been $60k in today's money when it was new...
See how that chrome shines?
Nothing made by any car company today pays this much attention to the engine bay...
even the battery is 1963...
Hoping you can see how that paint pops in the sun
badging
just look at those fabric inserts, they are over 60 years old- or someone did a masterful job of reproducing them
Even the dash is next level... truly a beautiful car from a bygone era...
Next, I'd love to show you some of the model 88's at this year's show...
I believe this Super 88 won class 2, all models 1964 to 1972 except Cutlass, 442, and Toro... except it's not a Super 88, it's a Dynamic so I'm wrong (but still a beautiful car)
Here's a gorgeous 1961 Starfire, also a winner in it's class...
Starfire interior... I love these cars...
Here's a 1961 Starfire next to a '62 Dynamic Convertible from behind (what can I say, I'm an *** man...)
interior of the '62. I can't believe that AC unit was comfortable for the passenger...
and from the nose...
mid 70's I think, Holiday coupe, or maybe a Brougham... wonderful car
And a mid 70's Delta 88 Royale convertible, one of my personal favorites. I was looking for something like this when I found my '64 Dynamic 88 convertible (which received a runner up plaque as well)
It was a beautiful day, great weather and a wonderful turn out. Almost 100 cars from New England and New York. A large contingent from Long Island drove up to Southington Ct for the show, and they brought home their fair share of the awards, mostly in the Cutlass and 442 class. Surprised there were no... Vista Cruisers or Fiesta wagons, and no Toronados at all. Best of show went to a spotlessly clean 1984 Delta 88 sedan- yep. A 1984 Delta 88 sedan brought home the big trophy this year. I thought I had a picture or two of it, but it's not on my phone, so I guess I looked, admired, and walked away.
Here's some Cutlass/442/w30/F85 pictures... lots of great cars, and not enough pictures. I'm hoping the other guys who were there got more Cutlass pictures...
Finally, there's this car- by some surprise, or miracle, or just a lack of entries in the class, this 1964 Dynamic 88 convertible from Warren Massachusetts received a run
ner's up plaque. The owner also took home a car detailing kit and a $25 gift certificate from Fusick via the raffle, to benefit the Shiner's hospital. I can assure you, that guy's pretty happy tonight....

That's from the post-1976 downsized era, 1977 to 1985. Not sure of the exact year of it.

That's a 1975 Delta 88. Last year for the Delta 88 convertibles.
Thanks gentlemen, for posting these photos! Good to see some familiar cars & folks. I'm now a few years removed from going to this show per my move to SC from CT in 2022, and I can same I'm still amazed at the variety of Olds cars, this year from 1902 on up! Well done NEOC!
Thank you all for coming to our show, for the complimentary remarks and for posting all of the great pictures. We look forward to seeing all of you and your great cars every year. Mark you calendars, next years show will be Sept 20th 2026.
