2017 LI/ NYC Olds Club Spring Dust off pictures

These are some of the pictures from the Olds show today. As always, met some good people and picked up a few parts. There were roughly 250 cars coming and going. A lot of A bodies, but I tried to take shots of the stuff you don't usually see. Quality not so great, I used my iPhone 6. More cars than usual today which was great. Enjoy.

I have about 70 pic's but the resolution is too high. Load about 10 tonight and some more tomorrow and so on.

I have a bunch more but they are an average of 3.5MB so I have to load them 1 or 2 at a time.

Thanks for sharing the pics... Hope the weather held out for the duration of the show, clouds looked a little iffy...

More pics

Not to hijack, but I'll add my pics here instead of doing my own thread. I got there late due to another commitment. Skies were gray & it drizzled a bit on the way over but there was still some nice stuff there.

Get yourself an image resizing program. I use image resizer for Windows, and I probably use this program more than any other. It's wonderful. It's free. It would cut those 3.5MB files down to something like 300KB without any loss of clarity. Keep the large-size, high-resolution images in some archival directory on your computer, and use the resized ones for internet purposes.

Ron that answers my question about you making it there. You are parked right next to me in the first picture. I'm the rough 71 on the other side of the hydrant with the fake W-25 hood. Anyone else have pictures of the show feel free to post them.

Jaunty I'll look into it thanks.

That's funny. I got there really late, prob 12:40. It looks like it was a nice crowd earlier in the day. I was checking your car out. Looks a lot like the 70 convertible I sold.

In fact, I'd go one step further and change the image size in your camera's settings. All digital cameras allow you to do this, and I'm guessing yours is cranked up to the highest possible resolution. There's no reason to be taking 3.5 MB images unless you plan to enlarge them to movie poster size. Tone it down to 1 MB or whatever setting is closest to that and try it. You'll be able to take lots more photos with your camera before running out of memory or having to change memory cards, you'll save a lot of hard disk space on your computer, you'll still be able to print sharp, high-quality enlargements if you ever want to, and you'll stop running into the kind of problem you ran into here...photo files that are so large they choke whatever system you're trying to upload them to.

Most online sites like this one will automatically resize a photo to an appropriate size once it's uploaded, anyway, so you're wasting bandwidth uploading files that are so large, but you still have to upload it at its full, gargantuan size (unless you start with smaller images---or resize them), and that's what can take time if you want to upload anything more than one or two photos at a time.

If you want to stick with your current image size, Image Resizer can still help because it can resize images in bulk. Just select all of the images you want to resize (the entire directory---hundreds, if you want), click on Resize once, and they all get resized at the same time. You can resize the originals, or create resized copies so the originals are preserved. As I say, it's a program that no digital photographer should be without.

I'll give it a shot. Believe it or not I took them with my iPhone 6. I'll have one of the kids lower the res on it.

My phone (Motorola) does the same thing. It defaults to photos that are about 2.5 to 3 MB in size. But cell phone cameras are sometimes different. They sometims don't allow changing resolution, only aspect ratio, and the suggestion is to change resolution after the photo is taken.

Is your hood all fiberglass or with the steel frame? I'm in the market but no luck finding a good original yet.

BTW - my convertible that yours reminded me of

That's a nice ride. Mine is all fiberglass, not a good one by any means. Thornton in PA makes the W-25 hood for $2,500 and if I have the story correct, they bought the rights from GM so it's as close to the original that's out there. Fusick sells them for the same price and they get them from Thornton. It has to be ordered. I looked into it about 10 years ago, they wanted the money up front then they make the hood for your year car. A lot for an upgrade but if you want something that fits you've got to spent a little more.

As you can see on mine the gaps are not consistent, there's a bow on the drivers side and the right rear nuts hung up so I had to cut them out. Believe it or not they were 2 3/8" nuts that appeared to be gorilla glued together. When I fit the hood the first time I went to remove it and the 2 nuts locked onto each other. I had to cut the underside of the hood open, then I epoxied a Kindorff nut into it but it didn't hold. I'll get back at it soon. For the Cutlass it's fine for me, but when I start putting the 442 back together I will go for the Thornton. Most guys that have the original are selling hoods that need work for $2,500 and up. I rather just get a clean one form Thornton.

Great pics everyone! Thanks for sharing. Would have been nice to venture down from Syracuse for that, but the weather was really bad up here and I hate driving them in the rain. Looked like a nice show!
