Which tie rods to use?
I have a set of new Moog and AC Delco tie rods. I am set on using my Hotchkis or PST hex billet adj. tie rod sleeves instead of the stock style sleeves.
The Moogs are too long and the threads need to be cut a bit (1/4" on each rod). Not sure if made in USA or not. The dust boots were already installed tight.
The AC Delco's say 'Made in USA' on the rods (boxes said 'Assembled in USA' though). The have blue boots (blue??) and and the overall lengths are shorter than the Moog (so I do not need to cut them).
With the Delco's, I can thread the hex adj. sleeves by hand and it is fairly sloppy all the way to the end. However, on the Moog ones, they thread easy by hand up until say an inch or so, then they need to be tightened using a 1 1/8" wrench. It is the same consistency on all the Moog tie rods... like the threads were done that way intentionally for a firmer fit perhaps?
Overall... just curious what everyone would use?
BTW, I have a few extra AC Delco tie rods that say 'Made in USA' on the box... but say nothing on the rods themselves. Strange b/c as above, the ones that say 'Assembled in USA' on the box have 'Made in USA' stamped on them.
Thx.
