wiper arm removal

Has anyone got a proper way to remove the splined wiper arms from the shafts without buggering them or the cowl piece up? They were in rough shape on my other '65 so I just put a vise-grip on 'em and yanked them off. The set on my VC are in awesome shape. Expect a teardown/build thread on it it in a day or so. Disassembly has begun....

There is a tool available that gets under the edge of the arm by the splined part and has a handle that extends over the wiper arm and you just lift or pry it off...before I bought this tool I just used a large screw driver and wrapped it with a shop cloth for the same result...no damage
