Radiator Core Support-'66 vs. '67

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the 1966 Cutlass and 1967 Cutlass radiator core supports? Mine, a '67, is rusted at the lower driver's side and I have located a '66 that is in good shape.

Thanks,

Jay

Keep looking for a 67 as the 66 is not the same.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the parts numbers and they were different but that didn't necessarily mean that a '66 wouldn't work. I'll keep looking and hope that I find something.

Headlight area is quite different. I have a 67 for my 67 parts car, but shipping could get high unless you meet me somewhere, like at the next Zone Show this spring.

Run to Rund, Where are you located? I don't have any plans for attending any of the zone shows in the near future and I agree with you on the shipping.

66 has the headlights right next to each other with the parking lights in the bumper. 67 has the headlights spread apart with the parking lights between them. As noted, the core supports are completely different and do not interchange. Google Images is your friend for seeing the differences on something like this.

Thanks Joe. I tried Google Images and now it is quite apparent what the difference is. Guess I will continue looking for a '67 or fabricate a repair for mine.

I have a decent 67 support that I repaired and installed then ran across a good deal on a non-rust one. It was rusted out under the battery and I had a sheet-metal worker friend remake the frame portion and it turned out pretty nice. It fit good and with battery in place it was hard to tell it was not original. There should be some before-after pics in my photobucket. If interested I will take better shots and send. It also comes with a new set of bushings. I'm open to reasonable offer.

Mike,
I looked at your pics and the core support does look good. Mine is not in as bad a shape as your's was. I think I am just going to start fabricating the lower section for mine. Finding a good one close to home is not a good bet and shipping cost for it is not cheap. I'll keep your email just in case I change my mind. Where are you located in Georgia?

It would be the weekend before I could get pictures of it. But I've got a munched one that I'd be willing to cut parts off of that you could use as patch panels. John

Jay, no problem. I know what you mean, shipping something that big is tough. I hope to do a local sale thru Clist. I am located just a little south of Athens (Bulldog country), about 50 miles east of Atlanta.

Core Support

John,

I just took a look at mine and I think I will just start media blasting and see what I have. The rust isn't too bad and there is some pitting but I think it will be structurally sound.
