It will physically fit under it. However the rear spring cups are different on a 66 versus a 67.

This is a 67 frame. Notice how the front frame horns jog out like the 68-72 frames. As far as I know, 67 cutlass was the only frame that used this configuration in the 64-67 A-bodies.

Here is a 66 Frame. 64-67 Buick, Chevy, Pontiac used this style frame horn. 64-66 Olds used it as well. The 64-67 BOP frames are longer in the area of the frame behind the rear end (straight frame rail section on either side of gas tank). and all 64-66 A-bodies use an upper spring cup with no small "cup"
That is not a 66 442 or Cutlass frame. That's a Chevelle frame. My 66 has it's original frame which looks just like the front of the 67.

Yea, I deleted the post but Pontiac and Buick do use the straight frame horns as well as chevy. So as long as the 66 in question is a 66 cutlass it will be fine as long as 64-66 rear springs are used as you stated.

That will work just fine. As noted you'll have to use 66 style rear springs.

sweet. i found another frame that was sandblasted and painted ten years ago so i'm probably going that route. 200 bucks more but at least i know it's solid.

thanks for you assist.

so the recently blasted and painted 67 frame sold, i have located a 4 door car that runs and drives that i am going to look at tomorrow but just to confirm the frames are the same. it shows the wheel base being the same between the convertible and 4 door at 115 inches. guys only asking 3k and is flexible on price. the car has a recently rebuilt 350, recently rebuilt 2 speed tranny, upgraded tubular control arms, ac car that has all it's parts. i figured by the time i buy a frame, blast it, powder coat it, i'm half of what he wants for the running car and i'll have extra parts to sell off. seriously thinking about using the 66 grill in my 67 convertible.

thanks

duane

66 grilles will not work on a 67 car unless you swap core support out for 66. If you do that then you have to use the 66 hood and other front pieces.

but the frame will definitely work? i guess i could swap it all over. the hood on the 66 is pretty rough though, but then again, so is the one on this 67. i don't care for the marker light between the headlights on the 67. are the fenders the same? i just have to change out the core support and grill/headlight assembly?

thanks,
duane

You need to swap everything but the fenders. However the fender end caps are different. Frame will work.

turn key, running driving 4 door car, freshly rebuilt 350 rocket, new edelbrock carb, 2 speed power glide rebuilt same time as motor, solid frame, tubular control arms, solid front fenders, solid drivers rear lower quarter, passenger rear lower quarter has a half dollar size hole where it meets wheel well but rest is solid, solid inner wheel wells, solid trunk drop off, all of which i need for my convertible build. decent black dash pad that only has one bad spot that can be repaired, newer carpet set, nice 66 grill assembly.

66 and 67 Olds A bodies used the spread front frame horns for a cross-flow radiator.
