Door post - lube or not to lube

Well I am just about to button up the rebuilt driver side door of my '72 convertible. The latches, regulators, etc were lubed with the recommended materials but here is a question not addressed by any of the flippin' manuals:

Does the main guide post for the window get lubed or not?? (The big one in the middle of the door that runs top to bottom).

The guides that run along it are plastic and it was not too cruddy when I first saw it, so I am guessing not (to not attract too much dirt)
Any confirmation of this theory?
There is a felt thing that runs along it with the window mechanism - is it supposed to be oil soaked or is it just to clean dirt from it when the window is moved?
Thanks in advance...
