Cutlass Panels

Hey guys. I was told that I need to replace my quarter panels and fenders. I have a '71 Cutlass Convt. What year(s) have interchanging parts? Also, do I have to use another Convt or can I use a Coupe for those type parts? Thx guys.

You need 70-72 convert quarters and any 70-72 Cutlass front fenders. There is a subtle difference in the front fenders - the 71-72 fenders have ribs on the inner lip where the hood fits. These were put there to help the front end act as a crush zone in head-on collisions. The 70 and 71-72 fenders are completely interchangeable, but if you care about correctness you need the ribbed fenders.

You are in luck, however. Both the front fenders and the factory-style rear quarters are available repro for this body style.

Thanks Joe. What should I expect as far as price? Should I try to find a shell or should I check somewhere like shamebay or yr1?

I've seen the front fenders selling for $299 each and the full quarters for $599 each. Good luck trying to find a rust free shell. The supply is drying up.

I hear the repo fenders are supposed to be a nightmare to fit without modifications, originals that need some light repair are way better, usually just the lower rear section is rusted out. I needed a pair for my '71 Vista and found a rust free set on evilbay for 200 bucks, Vista fenders are cheaper because of the trim holes I've found. My '71 Vista Cruiser has '70 fenders, all original, built in December of '70. I think they used up the remaining stock from '70, unique to Vista Cruisers?
