Cleanup of original steering pieces

I want to reuse my original inner and outer tie rods as well as the original center link. How can I clean them up without "ruining" the ball joints? Any harm if the ball joint is submerged in Evaporust?

Just be sure to purge the ball joints with grease when you're done.

Why not just wire wheel them a paint them? They don’t need to to be perfect. After all, they are suspension parts.

Evaporust it great, but I wouldn’t use it in this instance.
