4 Door

Hey all, new poster here!
Seems like this would be the place to get the best input for my question.

Recently purchased a 72 4 door. Being realistic I know I'm not going to get perfect unless I pay with my first born child. With that in mind, not too bad of a deal for 2K (picture to come later).
I'm begining to get the typical rust formation around the rear wheels and front lower rear fender areas. It doesn't look like much but I know it can look very deceiving! The fronts are the same just the rears...I'd rather not buy a quarter skin and have to toss 3/4s of it to fix this rust.

Many parts/patchs' are available for 2 doors, does something exist for a 4 door?

Welcome. Nice looking car!

As a fellow 4 door driver, I know what you will be up against getting body parts. Actually your best bet would be to find a nice parts car and cut what you need out. If that isn't feasible, you could look at Sherman and Associates. www.shermanparts.com. They have patch panels for 4 doors but I'm guessing they are thin and need a little help.

Good luck with the car. What part of town? You probably have some time before the rust really becomes an issue.

Thanks for the kind words.

Well hot damn!

Ive searched on many different sites on the interweb and have come up with nothing, within minutes my answer has arrived!

For less than 120!

Bought the car from the Wausau WI area. The car now resides in the western burbs of Chicago.

Its pretty neat. I have the "new car" paperwork from the dealership. First owners name, dealership name, personalized letters from the dealership and the standard manuals.

By chance...how rare is it to have a map light mounted on the rear view mirror and a reading light located to the right of the radio (below the left corner of the glovebox)?

Neither the questions above or this one fit into this category, anyone have the vacuum route diagrams for cruise control? Had to run all new lines and the guy who I bought it from changed the intake and carb and now I have lost proper vacuum ports for everything.

Many thanks!

Nice looking car.

I must say that the mag wheels look out of place on a plain 4-door - I like whitewalls better - but that's just me.

Cruise control information should all be available in the Chassis Service Manual.

As far as I know the map light on the mirror was a convertible-only item, as they had no dome light, so it was probably added by a later owner. I like those, so enjoy it!

Eric,
I hate to have to correct you but the mirror map light came on all cars that had the courtesy light option as well as the convertibles.

That is a good looking car!

Oh, okay. I always thought it was convertible-only.

Was there a special name for the mirror light in the sales literature?

Also, I believe I had one on my Cutlass convertible and on my Skylark convertible - do you know whether they were they used by all the Divisions?

Thanks for the correction!

Eric,
I think it was Y60, & depending on the model, Supreme, S, Convertible, or Wagon, you got something like 14 different lights through out the car. Some of them included the under hood lamp, light over the light switch, 2 above wiper area, an extra over heater control, 2 foot well lights in front, ash tray light, mirror map light, map light to right of radio, glove box light, C pillar lights(Supreme only?) & the trunk light. I've seen the mirror map light in other G.M. divisions but don't know if it was a stand alone option or part of a larger light group? I've seen them in big cars also but the stem is a different length.

Louise72, Couldn't open the picture link. I recently parted a low mileage, rust free 1970 four door. If you need four door parts, feel free to send me a private message with your want list. By the way, where are you located?

And the convertibles had lights in the front of the rear seat arm rests instead of the C pillar lights.
