1969 Cutlass Holiday s 2dr
I have sold my rusty 72 chevelle and got a rust free 69 CS holiday 2dr. It has the 350 th400 and 12 bolt rear. My question is, the car needs paint and a rt frnt fender, is there a reason I should go back factory? I like the color, but not the trim or the silver under the trim. I am leaning towards a solid blue, close to orig, with the wheel well trim from a S,or 442 model. Also thinking of buckets and going black with the int. I just don't know anything about the holiday model. It is a 2dr, vinyl top with no post. Came with 14" rims w/hub caps. Car is blue and silver with blue int. Single exh. 350 olds combo. My uncle bought it in the early 70's so I know it is original. It has been in a building for 16 years and it has no rust in the floors or around the rear window. Only rust is in the rt fender, which was put on after a light fender bender in the 80's. The origanal metal on the car is better than any car I have bought of the a body line. Just need some info and also where to get a rear glass. Neighbors kid thought it needed a new one. Thanks for any info. This is also my first olds and I have been wanting one for a long time.
Welcome! If you want to stay original then of course the colors stay too. But sounds like you are leaning to a different color combination which is fine. I don't think the Holiday was so rare that it should give you any reason to keep it totally original. If you are going to go a different color route you might consider peeking under the vinyl top and maybe removing it too. Read a couple threads lately describing the troubles people have had with them. They can be a nightmare of rust! If you go with black interiior and a solid blue exterior that would be nice. You might want to avoid the 442 stripes as then everyone and their brother will think you are trying to pull a quicky, even if you deny it. Most Olds purists don't like 442 clones but if you are the type to buck convention then screw them! Just a warning.....
hey i've had my 68 holiday for 15 years alot of people can tell you what they would do or what would look good. one thing to remember you can do any thing you wantits your car if you dicide to go with buckets keep the bench seat just in case you change your mind you can always chang it back, paint can be sanded and repaintedthe limits are the sky and you do what you wan't.
That sounds good, I just didnt want to hurt the value of the car. I really like the solid colors with the wheel trim only. Thanks for the info and advice. Does anyone know a good place to get a rear glass? Also what cars did gm use this glass in? I saw a 70 chevelle that looked the same, also a 70 cutlass looked like it would fit. I found some rusty parts cars around and I thought I could get a used glass if all else fails. I called five glass shops near me and they cant help. Thanks again
