1967 442/cutlass frame difference?

I have a 67 442 conv. i was wondering if a hardtop frame would work for the convertible if i were to have modifications done to strengthen the frame. if not what should i do? the original frame is no good, all rust. Thanks, any help will be appreciated.

If the convertible boxed sections are usable, weld them into the other frame. Make sure the distance is correct for the tranny crossmember, and that its holes for the mount remain centered. You will remove the small vertical at the body mount under the door, otherwise the boxing pieces are simple add-ons.

If by "modifications" you mean transferring the convertible-unique pieces from your old frame as Joe D described, then yes that will work fine. The convertible frame outer rails are the same as the HT frame pieces. If you mean simply adding flat plates like the street rodders do, that will not be structurally adequate.
