I purchased a 1978 Delta 88 Holiday coupe back in Dec 2018 and absolutely love it. At the time I was actually looking for a 1977 Delta 88 pace car but then the 1978 I currently own popped up and I purchased it. A pace car then showed up in these classifieds about 6 months later and was sold. I'd really like to find a nice example to own. I DON'T want a 1000-point museum piece I'd be afraid to drive and I'm NOT looking for a major restoration project, either. I'm definitely looking for something in between. I'd like a nice driver-quality that I can take to local shows and cruise-ins. Something that might need some light mechanical work, maybe the paint is faded, the interior is worn, the car might need some detailing... you get the picture. The car should be numbers-matching. Mileage is unimportant. I've looked at 200K+ mile cars that were taken care of better than 25K mile ones. The optional W43 graphics package is a plus and so is original documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw that one, too. It didn't look that bad from the pictures. The paint looked faded and thin in spots. Couldn't see any major signs of rust/rot. I'm sure all of the non-factory extra stickers could be removed without too much trouble. There wasn't many pictures of the interior and it was hard to see its actual condition. The underhood didn't look that bad except it was missing the A/C compressor and lines. I can see the original ad if I use your link to it but if I try to go into Craigslist directly I can't find it.
Take a look on albany craigslist under car parts then punch in oldsmobile . I dont know how to attach a link for you .the guy is from gloversville and has 2 cars not sure if you'd be interested they've been for sale off and on for a while now
Thanks. I saw that one, too. From the ad it sounds like you can make 1 good car from the 2 that he has. Looks like one is just a regular 1977 Delta 88 coupe. Too much of a project for me to tackle at this point in time. I'm looking for a good turn-key driver that might need some updating or minor repairs. Something I can drive and use right away. Not looking for a major project.

These cars may be harder to find than we think. I remember Oldsmobile Area Service Managers driving them because they weren't selling. I also remember at least three having a repaint to silver in order to sell them. I always thought the '77 pace car was a nice looking car. The L37 Holiday 88s were great cars too.
The listing in Ohio is no longer there. That would have been a possible candidate even though the original motor was gone. This one in Kentucky looks to be an exceptional piece (at least from the pictures) and would have to be viewed in person to confirm it. The classic car market is way up so the price isn't that bad. It's probably at the absolute top of the price range. The only downside is that it's double what I'm able to afford at this time. I may still contact the owner anyways to get some history and info on his car.
TRFREE you are correct that the Holiday 88s are great cars. I really enjoy driving mine. In the 3 years I've owned it I've added 6K miles to the odometer. It has a little over 47K original miles on it now. It's a great cruiser that floats down the road. It handles pretty well, too, since I added a rear sway bar I acquired out of a wrecked 1996 Impala SS.
Oh I know the feeling on being hard to find...took me 20 years to find the right Delta to restore....its no pace car but with 55 thousand original documented miles and rust free besides the patina and freckles in the paint its the perfect candidate for what I want to build...even though that pace car in Kentucky is nice but from what I can see the undercarriage isnt as clean as mine...the original owner of the car splurged to have the car specially undercoated from the dealer and they did a damn good job too!

Thanks, but this has been listed before. He has 2 cars that you can put together and make a good one. Way too much of a project for me. I'm looking for a good driver quality car that might need some minor things done to it. Something I could use as is and make repairs or upgrades as I went along.

I have a car for sale . Asking price is more than twice what I paid What you get for that price is, 5 new tires complete tune up with all AC Delco parts , . Carb rebuilt, ac resealed Calipers, wheel cylinders , pads shoes, hardware and brake hoses replaced with Rebestoes parts.. New premium shocks. Went thru it , with intention of keeping, Things change, I did however take it on a 3500 mile road trip with no issues Just saying

I’ll attend to any of the mechanical issues first to make sure it’s a reliable cruiser and then the cosmetics after. I have already scoped out a few parts including a rear sway bar from a wrecked 1995 Buick Roadmaster.
