Post Looking for a 1970 442

I need some help and hopefully you guyz can point me in the right direction. I made the decision to purchase a 1970 442 convertible. The problem is finding it. I have some requirements (I realize the car can not longer be ordered from the factory, but, it is what it is) like the car has to be numbers matching, must have air conditioning, power windows, automatic transmission, 455 C.I.D V8 & an air-induction hood. Anything else would be a bonus. I prefer any blue or Matador Red exterior with Pearl bucket seats. I’m not looking for a W-30, a show car nor a project. I am looking for something in good shape, something I can drive 2 or 3 times a week and requires little work. I have a budget of $50K - $60K. I’ve scoured the Internet, i.e. classiccars.com, eBay, Auto Trader, Cars for Sale, Hemmings, Barrett-Jackson, Mecum, Streetside Classics, this site & oldcaronline.com. I’d prefer not to get involved with an auction but it doesn’t hurt to look. Can you suggest any other places I may look?

Your budget seems fine. Auto 442 numbers matching cars can be found. Power windows are fairly common. True w-25 cars have about 4k higher price (that's the "ram air", it is called OAI, Outside Air Induction), perhaps consider an aftermarket kit which EVERY 70 442 has these days.

They are out there but you will most likely have to continue to be patient. Sounds like you are realistic about price and condition. It takes so much more money to get these up and running you might as well try to spend more on a better condition car then buying one cheap needing way more work.

Just over 2900 442 convertibles were made in '70 so not a lot to begin with.

Try 442.com but they don't list prices you must call or email. good luck in your quest.
