WTB 1970 - 1972 Cutlass S
I'm looking to buy a 1970 - 1972 Cutlass S. I've got up to $5000 to spend so I know it's not going to be a show car but I'm looking for a nice driver that I can enjoy.
I'm in the Chicagoland area but I will travel if the car is worth it.

How about this one!
I wouldn't mind checking this out myself for that price....perhaps if I sold my '72....

That ad is from scammer who's been posting links for that car all over Craigslist. Here's the email that he sends:
Hi,
We can deal using eBay.Look how this works:
1. I will contact eBay and give all the info about this deal.
2. They will send us the forms by email - for you about the payment.
3. I will send the vehicle to your location and you will send the payment at eBay.
4. After you will inspect the vehicle and decide to keep it, they will transfer the money into my account.
RETURN POLICY:
If by any reason the vehicle is not as described, or if you find any problems with it I will pay for the returning fees. I'm sure it won't be the case because the vehicle is in excellent condition.
As soon as the vehicle arrives, you will test it and if it does not match 100% to your expectations, you will return it in max. 5 working days since the arrival date. In this case you will send me the vehicle in the same condition you received it.
I prefer to use DAS Auto Shippers for shipping because I was pleased with their services. The estimated time of delivery is 5 days, with no scratches, it is professionally crated.Good faith has always been my top priority and my most valued business approach.
Please provide me with your full name and shipping address so I can register the deal with eBay.

It is a scam, it was talked about on ROP several days ago. His ad is on evry C-list in every city I look, I also emailed him to see what his BS line was and here is his response to me...
From: Michael Wright (michael.wright89@msn.com)
Hi,
The vehicle is still available for sale, price as stated in the ad $3,700. It's in perfect working order, no damages or scratches, it wasn't involved in any accidents. You will inspect the vehicle before the payment will be made. I temporarily moved in Etna CA, with my work and I have the vehicle with me. All shipping costs and insurance during transportation are included in the price because I won a promotion at DAS auto shippers (1 free shipping+$500). You will also receive all necessary documents in order to finalize the purchase. I am selling the vehicle under market value because I need to pay the bank or they will take my house. Email me back if you're interested and have further questions.
Specs: 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass HARDTOP // 94,200 miles // fully loaded // Body type: Coupe // Engine: 8 Cylinder // Ext&Int color: Green with White // Transmission: Automatic // Fuel type: Gasoline.
Thanks, Michael

It's Red with Black interior
350 2 bbl
350 Trans
12 Bolt Rear End
From what I was told it was parked since 1989 and the guy I bought it from said he dropped the fuel tank and cleaned it and did some other things to the car like adjust the drum brakes, replace the brake master cylinder, change the trans filter & fluid, grease the chasis, and change the oil.
It does have some issues I'm going to have to sort out though. I tried to drive it home and went 100 miles no problem (was only going 55mph) when with only having 60 miles till home the Cutlass starting sputtering badly.
I could go no more than 30mph and it kept choking out and dying on me. I think the fuel filter is probably gummed up and I'm definitely going to change it. The car needs a full tune up at the least. It has 21 year old spark plugs, spark plug wires, points in the distributor (I'm converting to HEI asap!!!).
So I had it towed home. Oh well. I'm anxious to see how it runs after I do some work to it.
