Looking for Dad’s first car
Looking for Dad’s first car
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone could help me try to find my father’s first car. Though I do not know much about Oldsmobile’s myself I will try to tell you all I know. It was a 1966 F-85 2 door hardtop, dark green exterior, tan interior, small V8 (though I don’t know the size), an automatic on the column and originally a bench seat. When he had sold it it has a mini steering wheel and bucket seats from a Firebird and the trunk pan was rusting out I believe. I don’t know what year it was sold but it was sold in the Greater New York Area. If this rings a bell to anyone please comment and let me know.
Thank you all for taking your time to look at this article and have a pleasant day.

That's almost 40 years ago now. At the time the car was sold, 1966 models were 16 year old used cars not yet viewed as collectible and something to keep for the long term, especially a low-end Olds with Ford parts on it and enough rust in the trunk that you could see the ground. If there was that much rust there, there was certainly rust elsewhere.
What I'm trying to say is, don't get your hopes up. The most likely thing is that this car went to the scrap yard and was crushed long ago.
There have been many posts like yours on this site over the years, and, to my knowledge, none of them have ever successfully found the car they were looking for. Too much can happen in the intervening years, and the more intervening years there are, the more that can happen. If you REALLY want to find this car, instead of relying on the very hit-or-miss aspect of posting on here, hire a private detective and give him as much information about the car as you. Its VIN and the name of the person it was sold to would be helpful. Without these, even a private detective would have so little to go on that their chance of success would be so low that they might advise you not to waste your money.
