I think it is. At least, that's definitely a '72 front end. '72 was the only year of the '71 to '76 era with the front turn signal lights above the bumper below the headlights.
The rear is correct at least for '72 and '73 as the '71s had louvers on the tailgate, and I believe '73 was the last year for the tall, vertical taillights. I think '74 was the first of the three-year run with the wider, "cathedral" tailights (below).

Here's a nice-looking '75 in Canada. Price is a bit steep:

Here's an ad for a '73 in Indiana with the two worst photos I've ever seen in an ad for a car:

Here's one in Las Vegas with kind of a strange ad and no photos. But it's closer to you.

Here's a '73 in Michigan that IS mislabeled as he calls it a '72. Looks a bit rough but quite restorable.

Here's another '72 in Las Vegas that looks quite nice. I don't think I've ever seen a white one of these wagons. Price is very reasonable.

Let us know if you do end up getting a wagon.

Jaunty,
You da man. Thanks for the leads. Of the ones you posted, the Las Vegas one is the most realistic distance-wise, but you're right, it's a strange ad. I called and couldn't get even basic information. Kinda sketchy.
I'll post the word here when my wagon eventually arrives.

Good point, except that in one ad he's asking $2400 and gives no phone number, and in the other it's $2800 with a phone number. But two of these for sale in the same city at the same time would be a bit of a coincidence.

Here are other pictures of 72 Custom Cruisers for comparison:

From GM:
(Okay, see, now you're just taunting me with those pics of the awesome '72 clamshells.
But I can take it.)
The two ads in Vegas are the same car. The price has dropped from $2800 to $2200. But it's a two-seater, unfortunately.

So you're looking specifically for one with the 'rare 3rd row seat'? There were several last year on CL. Just have to keep a lookout for them. Sort of like Rob Young. He's been on the prowl for a 68-72 VC in turnkey condition. Only stipulations? Can't be green, no 455, and has to be reasonable $$$. You're not THAT fussy are you?
Gosh, I hope I'm not too fussy--with the possible exception of the third seat (which I understood was more common than the two-seater). And rust issues which, I understand from friends east of the Rockies, is a battle I'll never win.
And you're right. Patience is the watchword.

Just went live in cleveland (black )
probably be hard pressed to paint a car for the asking?

Older wagons do have some real appeal. That one in just black loses some of it though. Funny - why do people put the nose rocket on upside down so often?
All said, if it's in great shape and not just a bondo'd over cosmetics, that's a decent buy.
