Looking for 1976 Cutlass Supreme 4-door

hi everyone

i'm a new member / first post. I am searching for my long lost 1976 Cutlass Supreme 4-door. I sold it 25 years ago in NY. I don't even have the VIN and I'm sure it's long since rusted away.

However if there are any blue sedans out there for sale, I am interested. I'm in California so western cars preferred. I will also consider a coupe if it's the same blue.

thanks everyone!

The odds of you finding your old car is probably the same as me growing hair back on my somewhat sparse head. I would concentrate on finding a nice one. I also would not be hung up on color, it can always be changed.

hi eric

yes i know the chance of finding my old one is somewhere between pigs flying and hell freezing over. just wanted to throw that out to the universe though, just in case.

now re: color - i could always change the exterior color but if i wanted the blue interior - that would be pretty hard to swap out the dashboard etc. right?

i guess its too old to be picky and just find a nice one.

so here's my big question - why are the '76 sedans so rare?

Mid-to-late 70's 4-doors are scarce now because they were bad on gas, not particularly reliable, and heavy -- prime candidates for scrapping.

I see a fair number of 2-doors out there, hardly any four-doors.

Here's one. Not blue, not in the greatest of shape, and on the wrong side of the country, but it is a four-door.

Here's a pretty darn close one. Looks like the same or a very similar blue. A four-door, but not a two-tone. Wrong side of the country, but the price is certainly right at $2000. Don't know about the interior, though.

I agree 4 doors are tough to find, they are not very desirable in those model years. Which is why I said finding yours would be as you stated above. The other downside is there is not the vender support for those model years either. The one good thing is that they are not very expensive. I would just keep searching for one in very good shape and then work on making it what you want. The interior parts would be hard to get in blue, so if that's a requirement search for one with the interior you want. Exterior colors can be changed easily.
