All I want o find and buy is a descent 1973 Olds Cutlass Supreme. You would think that one would be easy to lacate, I have yet to find one and have been looking for 6 mos. I'm about to give up!
Good 73-77 cars have been tough to find for a while. People didn't hold on to them and they had rust issues, though mechanically they'd live forever.
Now that they've come into their own for collector interest, the available pool is small. 76-77 seem to be more common.
BTW, 6 months is not long at all to search for a car you really want.

There was a 1973 442 for sale on the Portland Craigslist for almost a year. Finally they parted it out. You just have to be in the right place at the right time, but posting your location would help us point you in the right direction. Also, if you've not found the site called 73-77olds.com you should join there too and post under the car wanted catagory on both sites. John

Location is always good to know, or do you want one no matter what?
I saw some 73's on Craigslist, the one owner job is pretty nice, saw two of them anyway.
The '73 4-4-2 on cars online is a V code. They may have made some V code Vista Cruisers according to the V code Guru.

I agree about the needle. I just started looking for a 69 Cutlass and either they are project cars or out of my price range. I did find a frame off restoration that I will probably go and look at. Thanks for the great forums!!

Kurt this kills me how most people don't know about Olds "rocket" engines.
1973 cutlass 4 speed.
350 olds (not a rocket)
650 edlebrock carb.
edlebrock intake.
new clutch
new flywheel.
new clutch bearing
stock 4 speed tranny
new hurst shifter and rods
New bone white Interior with cutlass pattern in seats.
Basiclly stock, with a fairly straight body.
Some rust in the trunk and unknown under the half top.

Wouldn't be the same. 73 is an oddball year with front bumpers having shock absorbers on the front bumpers, yet retaining the old fashioned frame mounted bumpers. This gave the 73 rear end an overall much cleaner look and because the bumpers hugged the body so closely, i believe it gave designers more room for creativity.... with the bumper of the 73 (like years before) having the tail lights incorporated into the design. I'm not trying to tick off anyone who owns the later years, by all means they're still good looking cars. However, when someone seeks out the 73 GM a-body specifically.... whether they realize it or not, it's one of the things they like about that year. And I must say.. 1973 GM a-body cars are damn good lookin' from the back. Just imagine if they would have done the same with the front bumpers. They probably would be more sought after now if they hadn't monkeyed with that part of the designing.
Not to mention everything else at the back is changed completely... gas filler, taillights, trunklid, backup lights...

1 of the problems is ALOT of those cars got used up in demo derbys...i personally smashed 3 or 4 73-77 cutlass cars that were solid to begin with...we also used 73-77 monte carlos,,chevells, impalas, buicks and pontiacs...big cars rule the derby!!
