70-71 SX/442 conv
Looking for a friend in the market to buy a car in the next year or so. He is interested in a 70-71 Olds SX, 442 conv. or supreme. He will consider hard tops also. Not looking for major restoration but will consider minor body work or engine work. I told him I would put a message out on CO. His budget is about 30K

We have a pretty decent 1970 SX convertible. Red with a white top and white interior. It's a California car to my knowledge. We live in the bone dry San Fernando Valley here in Los Angeles. Pictures available. 365 horse hi compression 455 with a Quadrajet and dual exhaust. Since the late 1970s it has "lived" in Lakewood, California, then Chula Vista and now, since about 2016, here in LA. There is a small spot of rust on the driver's side lower fender that the previous owner said was caused by the neighbor's stupid sprinkler. Whatever. The other side is fine. The front bumper is NOS, and the rear has yet to be installed. It, too, is brand new. The car needs door panels, and the exhaust tips are not 442 style. They are the generic "pencil" tip style that I personally dislike. The cool looking Olds wheels DO NOT go with the car. I need those for my other 1970 4-speed car. Sorry. You'll have to supply some junkyard tires or I can sell you some modern aftermarket 17 inch chrome rims and tires for about $50 a piece. That's $400 for the mathematically challenged. The hood is off of a 1970 442 or Cutlass"S" model with the twin raised areas. Looks really great! We have NO IDEA if it a genuine SX car, so don't ask. They are quite rare. By the mid 1980s I realized that many Camaro RS, SS, and Z-28 cars were faked or cloned. Same with GTO, SS396, Judge, 442, GS400, Stage 1, etc. blah blah blah. So who knows. It's still a 365 horse 455 with hi compression and a THM400, dual exhaust, and 2.56:1 gears. The price is $40,000, but we will come down to $32,000 if your friend is serious. No joking around. The car will need a few hours of work to get it street worthy again. Coolant, tune up, check the brakes, etc. I haven't driven it much in the 10 years of ownership for various reasons. I literally have 15 convertibles at my house, and several have 4-speeds. Even my '66 Corvair Monza. That's what I prefer to drive around in.
I am currently selling a 1971 Cutlass supreme convertible badged as an SX with a lightly modified 455 . Email me for pictures and contact info. captainmopar1@msn.com.
Hi Scrappie. It's me, Marty, in Los Angeles regarding the '70 Cutlass Supreme SX convertible. I guess your friend is still looking. My car is still available. It was the red one with the white top and interior. It has the 365 horse 455 four barrel engine with high compression, dual exhaust, and the 442 rear bumper. It still needs door panels and very easy electrical work like the back up lights and the convertible top switch needs to be cleaned up. It only goes "down". I think you have pictures of the car. The power windows work like new. Let us know. our phone number is (818) 704-0145. Looking forward to your call.
