Hello.

Searching a decent driver of either of these two Oldsmobiles.
No Starfire or Jetstars,even tho they are awsome cars the price-tag is assumed to be a bit out of my league.
I have a couple of requirements even if i`m being realistic and
understand i cant be too demanding on my budget. I also have
to add quite a bit of shipping,and 25% tax and customs on total if/when it arrive to Norway.
I hope you can excuse my English,but i will try my best.

Condition:

As solid as possible,no bondo bucket,i`d rather have the flaws in full wiew. The paint can be worn and have patina,same goes for the interior. Most importantly is things work,lights,brakes,heater,wiper,good technical condition. Engine and trans work good,no leaks. All panels are mostly straight,the car still maintain it`s orignal trim,would be good if the chrome is fairly nice. I was curious what i could get for $10-12000.

Had this on my watch list on Ebay. Talked a bit with the owner and the car
is pretty solid besides the front floor board,not sure wich side it was. Also
it has some vacum issues,as i understand about the heater,but the heater
worked. I never heard back from him,even if i pointed out the "buy it now"
was fair.

 

Really nice looking car besides the steering wheel and blacked out bumpers.
When people black out parts it worry me,what else is easy "fixed". Thanks
for the tip.

Not a 65 but basically the same body.

 

Nice car except the the one i search has a more fastback looking roof
design. The white one in the link above is correct.

 

many times it's because they didn't want to spend another $700 each to rechrome the bumpers.some people think they look good blacked out,i'm not one of them.looks like a nice car for the money.

 

It makes sense,getting parts plated is really expensive. I would have left it as is no
matter how pitted or bad it was. But then again,it`s not my car.

How is the supply of aftermarket parts for these? Trim,interior and such,the hard
to find stuff?

 

For the 63 there are basically NO aftermarket parts for body, trim or interior. I would assume the 65 and most other full size Oldsmobiles would be in the same boat. Buy the best and most complete example you can find!

There are exceptions to this ;
Most "B" bodies used by Chevrolet , Pontiac, Oldsmobile , and Buick during the sixties will share some of the following parts .
1. Windshield and rear window glass , rubber gaskets and trim mouldings.
2. Side windows and seals.
3. Window cranks and interior as well as exterior door handles .
4. Seat frames and padding.
5. Rear view mirrors .
6. Interior lights .
7. Pontiac and Olds share the same floorpans and carpets .
8. Pontiac Grand Prix and Olds Starfire share the same roof and windows .
9. Convertible tops and parts .
10. Electric window switches .
11. Sunshade hinges.
12. Door sill plates.
13. Door hinges .
14. Door and trunk weatherstripping .

And there are probably a few more that I have forgotten . The reason that these are all shared is because most GM bodies are made by the Fisher Body Division.
It is well worth getting Chevrolet and Pontiac reproduction parts catalogs from places like Ames and Impala Bob's for these parts when restoring a car.
The general rule of thumb with Fisher Body parts is , if it looks the same it probably is .
