Not to keep beating a dead horse here but if this guy "restores" cars for a hobby I suggest he gets a new one. I am not impressed at all with this presentation... not with his smart-azz wording of his craigs ad either.

You dodged a bullet. You should be just as happy about having skipped the wrong one, as you would for having snagged the right one.

As said I briefly looked at this car Sunday. Paint is nice all gaps nice, trim nice, bumpers nice. Interior nice except for drivers bucket would need a cover. Under hood was good but did not see air cleaner. I think I remember dual exhaust and the seller said it runs like a dream. The vinyl top had a few bubbles under it on the driver's side and down low there was some bubling under the paint in a couple of spots. The only other thing mentioned was a possible crack on passenger side exhaust manifold. I did not hear it run but for a driver it seemed very nice however let buyer beware and check it out good if it comes to that.

MY 2 cents I would never trust a seller who took a deposit and then sells the car out from under him. I would tell the seller if the guy who put a deposit on the car doesn't show or didn't buy , to please call me. Your word has to mean something.

Maybe you should post what you are looking for as far as years and body styles. Have you considered B body cars like the 88 or 66 or 65 sfire coupes or verts? Do you want a project or driver....

I'm looking for a 68-72 cutlass coupe (rounded back/Hard top) that could run and drive but could also have some work done.

I don't know about shipping, but something seems to pop up here every few months. Just missed a light green 69 cutlass with a decent looking body and paint for 6,500. Not too far from me is a decent looking (from pictures anyway) 72 Cutlass S

Let's see what's around the area....

Here's a '70 Rallye 350 just inside CT. Prob an hour or 2 drive. No pics.

Here's a "restored" '69 in your neck-of-the-woods (you've probably already seen it on CL). Looks a little rough for a restored car, might be worth a look.

How about 4-doors? Very original looking '68 in north NJ...

Yeah, sorry about that. I figured you had seen that 1 already. It didn't look too hot in the ad.

How about this one from a member here, I bought mine from him and had it shipped to MD for $800. A great guy.....transaction and all shipping details went smoothly.....just a thought, that you might need to look nationwide......It took me 2yrs to find mine...also west coast cars have a lot less rust.....rust cost$$$$$LOL!

Hey, we just looked at this 70 cutlass and looks really nice. Couple questions The guy wants $11,900 does it look worth that that money it has a sticker under the hood on the radiator shroud with W-30 (see picture). Also, it has a 455 big block but when we took it for a drive it doesn't really accelerate very fast - you know, that throw you back in your seat when hit the accelerator hard.

Could you reattach the four body images? They don't seem to be viewable apart from the teeny tiny thumbnails.

How was the interior? Frame and underbody look clean and solid too? What transmission? Rear end?

I'm definitely not an expert at this stuff, but from what I can tell the C heads are 1967-1969 425/455 heads, and not W30 heads. That could mean the engine has been swapped out, or could just mean the heads were replaced.

Looking at the engine compartment shots, it strikes me that the engine has been dressed up and painted without being removed or rebuilt. What did the seller tell you about the engine's history? Did you do a compression check on it?

There's something about the W30 decal that doesn't look quite right, like it's not aged/worn the same as the rest of the engine bay.

Judging from the engine compartment condition and without seeing the quality of the interior or bodywork, the price strikes me as being on the high side. But that's just my "still learning" opinion, wait for the experts to pipe in...

Since we cant see the pictures it is hard to comment. When the price goes over 10 G.s it better be pretty nice. So far I am not seeing it.

I just found the car on the net, doesnt look bad. It would be great if it had buckets but it does not. Is the AC stuff hooked up? You should find out if it is a 455 as stated and if the engine was rebuilt what was done to it. Find out if he retained the turbo 350 trans or if the trans is the turbo 400. He may have a highway gear in it and perhaps a cam will not work well with those gears.
