Gauging interest 1970 Cutlass Convertible

Guys, I have been pondering letting my '70 Cutlass convertible go and wanted to gauge interest. Unlike most of you guys, I am limited to one car at a time & I have an opportunity to get another car on my short list but this would have to go. This isn't a flip car. This is my car I have owned, enjoyed & cared for for five years. It was repainted prior to my purchase. I would call it a nice driver. Up close it has its share of chips & scratches and to look its best it needs to be wheeled out at the beginning of the season. When painted it got new quarters, door half skins, @ a lower fender patch on the pass side fender. Driver's side fender is clean. I would give whoever did the body work a B. Trunk, floors & frame are original & clean. It has buckets & console, no A/C. Interior is white. I believe seat covers and door panels are correct for a '72. Dash was cut out for DIN chassis radio and has a crack in the pad but still shows well. Console had previous repiar in hinge area and recently got H&H restoration parts. Steering wheel is aftermarket Grant leather unit. It has a rebuilt '69 400 with C Heads, a rebuilt turbo 400 and a 3.23 posi. I don't have receipts for the rebuilds. The engine has a stock cam, Performer intake, headers & Edelbrock QJet with electric choke. Exhaust is 2 1/4" with a H-Pipe and newer stainless steel Magnaflows. Transmission has a shift kit & B&M cooler. Rear has W27 cover. Suspension includes KYB shocks, rear sway bar with boxed control arms, 1 1/8" front sway bar and quicker ratio steering box. Rims are polished Torq Thrusts 15x7 & 15x8 with Cooper Cobra 225/70 & 275/60. Hood is an original OAI restored with an all new frame by Troy Thornton. Stripes are decals if you don't care for them. Car has S-grilles which aren't correct but are better looking IMO. Car also has a 442 cut out bumper with stainless trumpets.
Price wise I'd have to get $16K for it which I think is reasonable. This is a car you can drive & enjoy from Day 1.

Pics are from last fall before I put it away for the season.

I wish life was such that these decisions didn't have to be made but 60x100 property and a one car garage makes it necessary. Nothing is written in stone.

I'm not able to get the pics to open, but it sounds quite nice. $16k seems to be a ballpark that would be quite fair to the buyer and the seller. For me, the only possible issue would be the no-AC, but buying from someone who loved and maintained the car would go a long way towards outweighing that.

I might be in the market in the next couple of months. If I am and this car is for sale, it would certainly be on my short list.

I'm interested in a nice driving daily driver, far more than a trailer queen or pure survivor - which sounds like this sort of car. Would you have any qualms about driving this car to Chicago?

He reached out to me on ROP previously. Do you have his contact info?

Call me a p*ssy but I'd had reserves about driving any old car that far. Its only been driven a few hundred miles a year for the last five years at least. That being said, its a good running car that has been well sorted. Carb has been redone, it has an electronic ignition conversion and power disc in good working order.

Well, if you insist!

I know it would be stupid, but I'm at a stage of my life where I haven't done all that many stupid things in quite some time, and I'm feeling I ought to do some while I still can!

Say it ain't so Ron!

Seriously though we know you have taken great care of the car and someone will be getting a great deal. I understand letting your baby go if something on your short list surfaces...good luck!

I consider the getting and letting go of things to be a sign of a life well-lived. Enjoyed the heck out of my little Corvair when I had it, but things changed such that it made sense to let someone else enjoy it. Now I'm getting psyched about getting a new toy. Life is good!

What a beautiful car! I have a '71 Cutlass Supreme convertible, but I've always liked the front end and tail lights on the '70 better. Again, what a beautiful car!!!

That would be AWESOME sitting next to my 70.
ALAS, no money though, and the better half would never let us part ways with our Cougar.

Hey! Don't do it... You will regret it. I like your car and color combo.....Please don't tell me you are selling it to go to the Dark Side.
