Ah, yes. The uber-rare "442 Supreme" model.

Cutlass

Oh, I don't think that the guy is claiming that it is rare in any way other than it supposedly has a "corvette" 350 in it, otherwise it looks to be a regular Cutlass convertible with a 442 grill....not for the purist as the ad says....

So, ignoring the hoopla, what does a clean, good running 68 convertible go for? I have seen them from $7,500 to $16,000 or so. Any they don't even have a tacky wing on them

You apparently missed the sarcasm. The title of the ad calls it a Cutlass 442 Supreme. Rare as in one-of-none...

just cause its a lt-1 doesnt mean its a corvette engine btw. that same engine was also in the trans am camaro ss impala ss, and caprice classic like mine own.

but with that aside from the question, i would personally think that this car should go for about 5-7.5k imho. reason being is cause its not an original engine (or carb'd for that matter).
things to consider are:
1. What other things has been done to it?
2. repairing things that goes wrong (do you go with chevy parts or olds)
3. what does it actually look like under the hood (kinda weird he says it has an LT-1 in it but no pics of it.
4. I cant really think of a 4th thing but i already typed it so i left it lol.

But like everyone says to each their own. Meaning if you think it is worth it go for it but me personally, i dont think it is worth any where near 18k for it.

$$$$

That was sort of my feeling....at best maybe $10,000 or so....it seems to be a nice car but there is a lot of "puffery" in the ad.....and that wingy thingy does drive me crazy

Sure they are. ANY LT-1 being sold without a car wrapped around it is a "Corvette" motor, by definition. Just ask the seller - would he lie to you?

Same thing - any 327 is a "fuelie motor"

Yeah, well the FI system was removed years ago and that 4bbl intake was bolted on instead, but trust me, it's a FUELIE motor....

I never understood the "corvette" motor mentality. I recently put a one in a '64 Belair. it is a real corvette motor as I pulled it from the '78 vette. I think in stock form it put out around 180 horsepower. I never thought 180 hp was something to brag about.

I always found this one amusing speaking of "corvette mentality"
