I found a 1963 Olds f85 and I was woundering if anyone could give me a $ value, It looks almost complete and restorable. I don't know if she runs, I'm debating making an offer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

 

Be aware that outside of weatherstripping and engine parts, there is virtually no support for the 61-63 cars in the aftermarket. Anything missing on the car now (like the front bumper) will require a search for good used parts.

They have some clean cars out there, more than anywhere when I was looking, and they're usually complete for some reason.

Sitting in the dirt like that I would check the underbody, frame and lines well.
I honestly have no idea of value, have to see and know more.
Maybe Jaunty will chime in with some Old Cars Price Guide Values.
I would offer $647.58 as a starting point and go from there.

 

According to the Old Cars Price Guide, a 1963 Cutlass 2-door coupe in non-running but restorable condition (#5 condition) has a value of $1,440. Offer him a grand and see what happens. This is assuming, of course, that the car is complete or nearly so. Have you looked under the hood to see if there's an engine under there? Also, it's apparently been sitting out in the grass for a while as the tires have sunk into the ground. Is there anything left of the floor?

Your offer is reasonable. Given that the car has apparently been sitting, and since, as Joe points out, it's missing at least the front bumper, it could very well go for $500 or $750. Heck, the owner may just want it out of his yard and would take $250 for it. If I were interested in it at all, I would want to hear what the owner wants for it before offering anything.

Of course, from what cwalmsley says, it sounds like this car might not actually be for sale and that he's thinking of approaching the owner about it. In that case, I would probably try to get him to suggest a price but be willing to make an offer if he wanted to hear from me first.

 

Thanks for all your advice. I was thinking that the $3500.00 the owner wanted was just a bit too much. I know that buying this Project is just that and the work isn't going to be easy. I had one when I was 17 and foolishly didn't consider the coolness it could have been, sooooo I'm wanting to make amends..... Thanks again.
