Hello - does anyone happen to "know" this vehicle? Any comments on condition/originality/etc are greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the description and pics leave a lot to be desired and thus I am trying to get some "intel" from this knowledgeable community. I did notice the same seller also has a '68 H/O and '72 442 Pace Car for sale at the same auction ... so it appears he's a bit of an Olds fan! Thanks in advance for any feedback.

While I cannot speak to the quality of the restoration, here are a few cosmetic things that jumped out at me:

• Gold wheels with BF Goodrich
• Correct wheels with the wrong Goodyear F60's (should not say F60-15 on the sidewall)
• I believe the "UD" engine code decal on the oil filler tube is incorrect, should be QE
• Air flapper assembly is black, should be a gray phosphate color
• Missing the heat tube from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner.

 

A few other things
- incorrect replacement master cylinder
- incorrect alternator (not open face and likely not the correct "diamond back" rear housing)
- A/C has been converted to a cycling clutch/orifice tube system (CCOT) with an aftermarket conversion tube

 

Aaaand…. One more thing I saw that’s just a minor flaw easy to fix is the thermostat housing. 69 HO uses the bent hose. The one on it is the newer replacement with the bent pipe.

it's odd.... first picture is different than the rest of the pictures, including the color of the Firefrost paint.
If you look at the last picture, the "tooth" of the hood appears to be pushed in a bit... The first picture, it does not appear that way?

The wheels change for argent to gold depending on the pic

 

Looks like it got pushed in there. That's not good. Not sure about the paint. Monitor colors, and lighting, different camera and even the angle plays tricks with the firefrost. It would be hard to say if it was repainted. The greenish scoop decals aren't original, that's for sure.

Amen. I remember watching these auctions thinking cars were true. It has become the dumping ground for cars that don't need history or verification. I am not ******* this particular car. I have personally seen over bid cars come home and need everything. High dollar auction cars are throw away money anymore. Fools really don't care about authenticity. Those days are gone. These high dollar auctions should be ashamed of what they sell. Never going to happen. They could care less. Just drop the hammer. It is all about oh look how cool (foolish) I am. Look what I bought. We are all getting older. There are fewer and fewer of knowledgeable caring people. 100 grand for a questionable whatever? 90 grand buys you a high tech hi horsepower handling car. This market is screwing itself.
