729 made in 1970, actually. This is another example of rarity does not necessarily mean desirability or value. Asking price is a tad optimistic, given photos like this.

Rare doesn't necessarily mean value. With the 6-cylinder and the significant rust, this is going to be a hard sell.

That is a disappointing picture, to say the least, since the first picture makes it look like a nice, presentable car. Any buyer must hope it's just a badly prepared paint job, and look very closely before buying. I dare whoever buys it to leave the straight six in it and bring it to shows!

I'd for sure leave the 6 in it. Must have been an old person's car originally. No air and no power brakes, but it does have power steering. My guess is the car parked under a bridge or a carport that leaked and that roof is years of yuck dripping down on it.

Floors and trunk are solid. Has small hole in trunk, drivers side quarter panel has rust, paint is peeling on roof.
Um?...

Small hole in trunk? Where there is a little rust there is definitely more.

Come across these from time to time for sale. I think..man that's cool especially if you find an F85 and optioned with 3 on the tree. But then I think... the coolness would go away in about 15 minutes and then I have a straight 6 driver, lacking power of a v8, which is so ho-hum and it would be time to move on.

If I had room for several itd be cool to add to the fleet. You can make a 6 run with a few good upgrades. Enough to make it fun & economical. Certainly unique.

I thought I would post the ad and more pictures. Cool unusual car when new. The passenger rear panel shows serious signs of being very wet. Interesting car for sure. 2500 it might be worth bringing back.

You forgot to post the last picture of a 1970 442. As if that has anything to do with the 6 cylinder Cutlass in the ad.

I think the seller is attempting to show that his car is the same thing as the 442, just with 2 fewer cylinders. Yeah, right.

Leading edge of the hood is pretty raunchy too. I'll bet the whole car gets worse the deeper you dig.

Agreed. The way that rear panel is warped it is obvious that car has seen serious moisture. I bet under that paint is just crazy.

what amazes me is the good condition of the interior when the exterior is so ratted out.

It really is amazing how nice the interior looks.

Man did I learn that lesson when I lived in the Pacific Northwest. I went to buy/look at this 65 GTO once. Interior looked so nice. Maroon car. Black interior. I started looking closer. There was Zero metal left in the rear package shelf. Same for the metal behind the rear seat. If someone sat in that seat they would have fallen thru into the trunk. From the outside it looked like this car. Rust bubbling out around the wheel wells. Surface rust. It was a shame how wasted that car was.

We took a family vacation to the Las Vegas/Arizona area a couple years ago. It’s kinda painful to see peoples parts cars out west that are nicer than the stuff we are trying to repair in the Midwest.

If I had to do it again, I would definitely find a car to build in a dry climate. Granted, the interior will be baked beyond use, but show me 50 year old interior that doesn’t need repair or replacement.

Best thing to do is get those two cars cheap and combine.

Well since my Vista is a southern car and a Vista and left out in the rain a lot and it has both diseases and I sure noticed the nice interior of that blue car. Isn't that the way it goes, you don't notice other cars so much except those like yours (mundane non-Olds) or the cars that you really wish you had for some reason or the other, or any Oldsmobile.

Rare, but just as, or more crusty than the one for sale
