Very dry car, complete except for ignition key and trunk lock.
The only rust is the floor of the trunk, looks like they might have
carried something corrosive. There is no other rust other than surface
rust. Removed the carpet and the floor only have surface rust.
The engine is free, I thought it was stuck but the water pump is stuck and
once the belt came loose from the pump pulley it would turn.

The front clip is mostly in very nice shape.The hood is bent on the left
rear corner,and the hinges are trashed, looks like the wind got it.
Hinge bolts got tore out of hood. There is a slight caved in spot where the
Dynamic 88 emblem is on the rt frt fender. The rest is beautiful, no rust through. The grill and front bumper are nearly perfect. Radiator support is clean, however the battery box is rusted.
It would sell good as a demolition derby car, but it is too clean and complete.

Don't know what happened to your post jaunty75, I got the info from running the vin in an online decoder, It didn't give the city, while looking for it I did discover it was made in
Kansas City, Kansas.

 

There is a problem with the VIN decoder you used. It SHOULD give the manufacturing plant because that's been a part of Oldsmobile VINs for a very long time.

There is no way a VIN decoder can indicate the body style as that was not incorporated into the VIN until later. All you can get from a '64 Olds VIN is engine (V-8 or 6), series (Cutlass, Dynamic 88, Super 88, etc.), model year (4), plant where made, and six-digit sequence number.

There is also no way to determine where in the production sequence your car was made because Dynamic 88s were made at six different assembly plants that year. Your VIN may end with 19457, but that doesn't mean it was the 19,457th Dynamic 88 Celebrity Sedan made that year. It doesn't even mean it was the 19,457th Dynamic 88 made that year. All it means is that is the 19,457th Dynamic 88 made at whatever plant your car was assembled at. Over 150,000 non-station wagon Dynamic 88s were built in 1964 spread across six plants, and all you know is that yours is one of them.

You can get an idea of where in the production sequence at the assembly plant inquestion this car was made by looking at the cowl tag for the date code. It will be a two-number/letter combination like 03C or 11A where the number indicates the month of the year and the letter indicates the week of the month. For example, 03C = third week of March.

That's just what would be expected. So your car was apparently the 19,457th Dynamic 88 built at Kansas City. But we don't know how many Dynamic 88s in total were built there, so we can't say where in the overall production sequence at that plant it fell.

You should examine the cowl tag, which is on the firewall under the hood on, I think, the driver's side. It's about the size of a credit card and is usually riveted in place. It will have codes on it that will indicate some of the options on the car as well as original paint color or colors. It will also give a date code as I noted above.

This one is for a Chevy, but it looks just like this. Note on this one the date code on the lower left, 03D. This car, which is a '69 model year car as give by the "69" next to the "ST" at the upper left, was built in the 4th week of March 1969 at whatever plant "NOR" (Norwalk?) stands for. There are two paint codes because the first is lower body color and the second upper body (roof) color. Convertibles often had a top that was a different color from the lower part of the car. Vinyl roofs could have a different color as well. This particular car was the same color all over as given by the two paint codes being the same.

Note the long number after the assembly plant code to the left of "BDY" in the top row. This is common on cowl tags, and that long number (in this case, 295460, is the "Fisher Body Sequence Number" or words to this effect. It's not decodable, and it doesn't correspond to the car's VIN.

It will be worth getting all the info for it, it is a nice looking 2 door.
