Nice. An unusual '71 442, especially with factory A/C & 4-speed. Is it the original paint and stripes?

As for as I can tell, paint and stripe appear to be mostly original. Thx

The car has the 350 in it running and driving, the 455 is out and has had all machine work done. I have all parts to put complete short block together all new. Pistons L2323, reconditioned rods, 4 speed crank turned 10/10, with resurfaced flywheel, new mildon oil pump, cam bearing installed, seal power bearings, rings cam and lifters etc. just missing the original heads.

Nice 442

Nice car for someone to restore. Love these center hood stripes. I'm guessing it probably has the W37 dual disc clutch. Curious if the smooth passenger fender is original to the car.

Thanks for the interest. Regards to the fender Being smooth lip, it is a early build so anything is possible. Have not really looked that deep into if it was swapped.

Are you sure it is an M-22? With A/C I would think it would be an M-20. The M-20 in 71 had the big tail shaft like the M-22 had.

It has the 400 tail shaft, this is the best Muncie in my thoughts. This car was a special order as you can we with options. Most the time this trans is seen in the W-machines.

If it's the original Trans is will be coded as an M22, A=M20, B=M21, C=M22.

it also has the 70 and earlier horizontal fill tube on the radiator. So maybe those were put on early 71s as well as the smooth fenders.

I was wondering about that. I did not know if 71 was like 70 or 72.

Do you have any documentation for the 442, especially any showing the factory options and drive train?

In 1971 the radiator fill tube could be horizontal or on a slant. I believe the earlier the vehicle is, the more prevalent it is horizontal.
