What's She Worth??

Okay guys. Haven't had her all that long (see other posts). Not to be a downer at Christmas time BUT...here goes...My Mom passed away in July. Now, Dad is in failing health. NOT sure if I will sell, just wanting to get your opinions on this. White 1985 442 (please see my photos) that runs and drives. I BELIEVE it has original engine. The wheels are correct. Interior is mostly there (but smells due to leaking windshield. Floors solid. Needs body restored and interior cleaned/replaced. Has 8.5 rear end. VIN is correct and has SPID sticker on trunk lid. Let me know what you think. Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Doug

The rear axle is worth as much as the whole car from the looks of things. How are the door skins?
I wish you and your family well.

Thanks guys for the well wishes! I'm REALLY bummin'...thought a one of approx 400 made would be worth more (even in this cond) since all the sheet metal is relatively easy to find. To do it right, it would need all the sheet metal repaired/replaced (except fenders). Floors seem to be solid as does trunk floor. Got $3000 in receipts (front end work, new tires, rebuild trans, battery, water pump, brake parts, shocks, and misc others.

If work is needed price drops.I would say, keep it an fix her up for your self. There is not a lot of white 4-4-2's left in this world, own a piece of history

I know there is one less myself, got the remains of one stripped down to nothing this spring and finished it off. I gave $1200. for mine as a roller, I'm already in too deep. They just don't have much value with rust. Hope your dad gets better!

If it runs and drives, in the condition you describe and from the photos, $2000 to $2500.

This will have some effect on value, depending on how recent the repairs are, but in spite of what you've done to it, it apparently needs a lot more. If you get this thing in car-show-quality condition, it'll be worth around $5,000. Get it to showroom condition, and it's in the $7,500 range. You've already got $3K into it and it's not even worth that as it sits right now. Replacing the interior, as you suggest, and repairing the rust and repainting will cost a pretty penny. Don't spend another dime on it if you plan to sell it as you'll never get back in selling what you spend on it.

On the other hand, as some have suggested, if there is any way you can keep it (and you want to keep it), you can restore it over time as your funds permit. No need to get it done tomorrow.
