Seems like a big project. Yet somehow I find myself interested.

Anyone have any opinions?

Looks to be rough but mostly there. Little in the way of aftermarket parts. I would be tempted too if I didn't already have a convertible project. Southern Del to NJ looks like an easy road trip to put eyes on it. I think you should al least go and look at it. You can never have too many projects.

Most important is to be sure the fame is not rotting. Cool car but very expensive to restore. Personally I am not a fan of the Jetstar that uses A body type brake parts and wheels and the small block engine, among other things.

How expensive to restore? More than a typical 88 or 98?

Where on the frame should I look?

The frame is a box typically up by front wheels near engine cradle where frame bends around toward the back, under door area and at rear where frame starts to go up at rear axle. Best to tap on frame with hammer for a good ring and not a mush dull thud. Poke fingers in any machined holes and feel for scale laying in there from rot. No more expensive than a 88, I was implying that no interior soft parts are reproduced like door panels and seat covers so custom work is required.

The car is very rough. Would cost a small fortune to restore as it needs lots of body work and/or replacement panels, which will have to come from other full-size '65s, but then you'd have a cool car when you're done. The red/white color combination is very attractive.

He's technically in violation of the classic olds car-selling rules as you're supposed to list an asking price. The Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of a non-running but restorable '65 Jetstar 88 convertible as being in the $2500 to $3000 range.

Im following the restoration of another B Body on the major builds and IF IT WERE ME I would seriously consider that same 4 speed conversion, I love the big cars and 4 speeds I don't know why... impalas, catalinas, and now these bad boys.

Over the years, I've had two people contact me looking for rearend housing for the Jetstar 88. As I recall the bearing ruin the housing. Regular 88/98 housing is not interchangeable. Just something to consider.

Trying to locate panels to see if this is worthwhile.

Looks very rough.

3 or 4 speed would be an improvement over the Jetaway.

1964 J88 is one year only axle and brakes IIRC.

Went to look at the car and it is beyond my capabilities and wallet. Trunk was the deal breaker. Trunk lid was split from inside and outer skin. All soft parts need replaced.

Battery tray was rusted gone. Acid leaked all over frame and fender at one time.

Engine did turn over (with battery I provided) but would not start at all.

Its a shame, because there was less than 2500 made. Unsure how many remain.

Parts car at best.
