Phil Sylva's 1970 442 W-30 convt. 4 speed
I knew this car when Jim Stohlman owned it. Documented 4 speed convertible in Phil Sylva's collection. If I did not do the link correctly go to the Super Car Registry and search on 1970 442 rag. In case you have a couple dollars to spend on a car.

What's wrong with the shifter handle?
Convert big blocks didn't get braces.....they are so flexible that those little tubular braces wouldn't have done a thing anyway.

You always say actual sale prices are what you consider to be the market:
B-J Scottsdale 2010:
Documented 1970 W30 4 speed convertible....$222,200 including buyer's premium. (this may be the one Thornton did) Apparently the seller of the $250,000 one above is certainly in the ballpark. It's probably one of the most documented one's in existence
Yeah, you can argue they're just a bunch of drunk rich people but the market is still there for rare documented cars.

It's interesting that the few little things in the engine compartment (wiring to the TCS switch, broken upper hose bracket (?), paint on the dashpot bracket etc...) arent corrected before being offered for 250,000.00. That being said, it's still worth a Keg-O-Cash !!

Documented cars are few and far between. Of the 96 built there are probably less than 15 remaining with good documentation like this car. Add the history on this car and it makes it pretty valuable if you want a 4 speed w-30 convertitble. The 2010 sale of a similar car makes it at least in the ball park. $200-250k is a great price for an Oldsmobile and I have everything to gain with a sale over 200k since I own one of these cars.
