Is the seller on this forum?

This seems like a really original car that's worth much more than "20k cash" - why even mention a number that low? If the car really is that original then it should sell itself - but instead there's tired car salesman ad-copy gives off a whiff of sadness that I just don't understand.

Does anybody know this car? Apart from the "somewhat lousy" repaint (seller's words) what is "wrong" (if anything) with this '68 H/O?

Apologies if I'm screwing anybody by bringing attention to an ad they might have been planning to bid on.

 

I'm not any good at picking apart cars like these. Its a neat car. Current bid upwards of 35K.

I believe there is a growing market for cars that are labeled as survivor or called born with. Some people would rather have a car that is not restored and more original the better. Lousy partial repaint included. Even the seller suggests that maybe its too good to be restored. That is a valid opinion.

If I were in the market to purchase this car, I would see it in person.

 

I had a chance to buy this car. A long story short it fell thur. The dealer paid 30k for the car wants 50 k to sell. If anybody wants info PM me.

 

There is a reserve on the car, so nobody knows what the seller wants. If there is a crappy repaint, you can bet there is crappy body work. Around here, you would be looking at 15-20K to repaint it to show with some very minor bodywork. It's 35K now and hasn't met reserve. A crappy repainted car is not a "survivor" car.

Having said that, I -wish- any of my fleet had such "crappy" paint.

There's some detail stuff that appears wrong, but not much. Car was a great buy at $30k, I don't see him fetching $50k for it... you'll be upside down real fast by the time you paint it, especially if you decide to go through the chassis and such. Of course, this is all based off reviewing internet pictures, you'd have to go over it in person. I expected that it would have sold when it cleared $40k at auction the first time...

If he paid $30K he is wise to take $40K for it. Its a nice return.
