The car is very well documented. The problem wit it is that the engine was replaced sometime in the late 70's. Other than the obvious aluminum intake, there is no way of knowing if the other key parts, carb, distributor and harmonic balancer got swapped over too. The seller does not mention it in his listing.

To Do List-

1) Win Auction
2) Arrange Shipping
3) Telephone Call - “Hello, Mr Remmell?” “How soon could you have a small block stroker kit shipped out?”

If I would have bought a 70 W-30 new it would most likely have been these colors. I dig this car.

I dig his story, his 243k mile W-machine, AND his 8-track collection... Steppenwolf, Stills, Zeppelin, Clapton, Jimi, Traffic, Derek... and JT, Barbra and Carole. 1970s AOR FM, plus some top 40. Awesome

Would the matching #'s JO transmission listed verify this as a real W-31? Interesting plumbing job on the carb fuel inlet, STEPPENWOLF'S greatest hits...oh yeah!!!

Another vote for the Steppenwolf eight track!

Great story. What happened to the original motor and why was that part of the story left out ?

Yes and no. The JO coded cover is correct for a W-31 Automatic, but the cover is removable. Looks like a very Kool W-31.

The seller reached out to me a few months back when he first acquired the car from the original owner. The car baked inside of a storage container for awhile. The pictures I saw showed cardboard underneath the car with every fluid leaking similarly to the Exxon Valdez. The seller thought the car would fetch $28k-$30k. If you look closely, you can see one of the fenders has been replaced as the spacing of the emblems is entirely off. Cool color combination and a post coupe is always unique! I hope we see that the car ended up with someone from the Olds community.

Apparently the deal fell through. This car was just re-listed on eBay. Starting bid is $14,100.00. Wonder if it was issues with the car or issues with the buyer ?

That is frustrating for the seller Quite a few people do not honer there word anymore
You must understand it is a 51 year old car it will need love
Hopefully second time is a charm for the seller
Just my 2 cents

The winning bidder said that he bid by accident, according to the e bay listing. How do you enter a $19k bid by accident?

I don’t know the seller, but I’d be skeptical as the next highest bidder would have been $100.00 less than the high bidder........did he back out too?

It is a rare and desirable car, in a unique combination, but no doubt a “labor of Love”

We have called it shill bidding for years. Always raises red flags to me when a supposedly sold item gets relisted as soon as the auction is over.

I’m not saying that was the case, but certainly could have been.
