‘70 442 4 Speed convertible on BaT

Beautiful 1970 442 4 speed convertible on Bring a Trailer. The comments section and rebuttals are interesting.

Interesting VIN stamps. I’ve never seen a Muncie VIN on the side cover, always on the case. Nice looking car though.

If you read the comment Steve Minore stated it was done at some plants. New Jersey I believe

Is that where the positive battery cable is supposed to be?

Pretty color combination! Looks like the car did $110k at Mecum in 2016. Appears to be worth every cent, too.

Positive cable is in correct position for a 4spd car

I think i had read about this car in the past, having a replacement engine? Isn't that pretty tall money for a car with the incorrect engine block?

Just curious, as i am trying to determine the value of my car restored, and whether I want to invest the time and money.

I have a 70 442 4 speed convertible built in Linden, NJ and the vin # is stamped in the usual location, not the side cover.

I have always wondered if burgundy was thee Olds color, sorta like red is to Ferrari. It was so insanely prevalent over the years.

Personally, my 66 442, 87 442, and 87 Supreme were all burgundy. As well as my brothers 79 Supreme. and we were not looking for burgundy cars...

This precise model is worth a fortune and deserves the stupid money. If someone can get 30k for a stock Chevette than this is worth 150k... On top of that the 1970-1972 Supreme coupe bodystyle was arguably Oldsmobiles most beautiful car.

Of course markets vary, is this the best time to get top dollar who knows ... My guess this car on auction may pull 125k, but again what is the current sellers market atmosphere... that may dictate everything. Maybe the potential high bidder loses a fortune on the Super bowl and he doesn't feel like getting another toy... As always the old adage applies, no guarantees except ...
