I have gone back and forth on this all summer but have decided to sell my '69 442 post car. I really want either a 4spd car or a convertible. If it does not sell (or trade) I will just start the 4spd conversion over winter.

It is a solid car, came out of California in the early 80s and has been in the midwest since, so it is solid but not perfect. It has never been fully restored but it has had a couple of paint jobs and the original 400 was replaced with a strong 455 w/ low miles. It is not a show car, it is a cruise night, driver type of car. To be perfect it would need better paint and interior work. You could likely drive the car home anywhere, but with the 3.90 gears it might not be the best way to go if you live far away. The interior is the worst part of the car, was gold and has been partially changed over to black, it needs to be finished, the dash is still gold. it is a bench seat car.

I'm asking $8000, and have turned down offers of $7000, so I'm not too flexible. I would consider full or partial trades for a mid size convertible or a 4spd car. Questions can be sent via email to chaosjr07@yahoo.com

Was a pretty loaded car for a post, tilt, rally pack, rear defrost, am/fm, power disc brakes, soft ray glass, cruise, ac, etc. The last owner removed the heater/ac/cruise as he wanted a go fast car.

Thanks, you guys are making me not want to sell it! Yes, all the lights work, even the back up lights. The fenderwells are back in it and I am putting a fresh coat of spatter paint on the trunk floor this week.

 

Oh, also the tires are 225/70/14 on 14x7 SSI wheels.

 

I'm blaming lack of coffee this morning for missing the other question. The fuel gauge and tach work. The speedometer cable was making noise so it was disconnected. The water temp and oil pressure gauges are not hooked up in the factory cluster currently, as I have aftermarket gauges that do work mounted below the dash. I have been meaning to run adaptors on the sending units to hook up the factory gauges but have not gotten to it yet.

 

I like the conversion to the 70 OAI hood. IMO it looks a lot nicer than the HO scoops. Don't know why Olds didn't offer that style earlier. Good luck with your sale.

 

Thanks Alan, the hood gets the car a lot of attention when I cruise it. I personally kind of like the stock look, the hood was on it when I bought it. But I have to say most people that see the car love the look of it with the W25 hood.

There's nothing wrong with the stock look either! I think the 69/70 stock metal hoods can get easily mistaken at first glance and look somewhat 'plain'? Doesn't really enhance the look of the car as much. It's just my opinion that the 70 OAI hood just draws attention more than the stock hood. Either way is good, but I like the idea of someone driving ahead glancing in their rear view and seeing that totally wicked twin tunnel coming up fast behind them....

The color suits the car very well too.

 

I totally agree that it gets attention with the current hood on it, and it does look menacing.

Just an update, sanded down the light surface rust in the trunk and primed those areas with POR 15. There was no rust through, or even close to any in the trunk floor, nor has it ever been patched. Tomorrow I am going to use spatter paint in the original black/turquiose to topcoat, will add pics when it is done.

keep it and put a Tremec or other OD stick in it ! Will be great with those 3.90s!(MOO)!!

 

If I do keep it, I have everything to convert it to a manual, including a '69 M20 and a 3.42 Anti Spin type O 12 bolt. Although I would love to go the overdrive route and keep the 3.90 axle...

We will see, if nothing happens in a week or so maybe I will move it over to the major builds and projects area of the forum: )
