66 442 convert ? 20K

Saw this 66 442 conv on ebay. Dealer representing it as a real 442. I am not yet convinced ... chk out the Lan cowl tag pic. Shows 5Y not 5V for the 442 option. I believe 5Y is delux seat belts, correct ?

I guess the winner should chk the quater pnls behind the rear arm rest for welded up cutlass emblem holes. Its the first Lan 442 tag I have seen without the 5V code. Buyer beware. Nice resto regardless, but i would have stayed with the factory color.

Damn, I used to live right near this place in Lynnwood. I will say this about the Seattle area, there are a bunch of beautiful old classic cars up there. Can't wait to work on my 66 Cutlass convertible now Garage starts going up next week.

I agree with you, but if it is a clone someone has gone through a lot of trouble and expense to install all the right parts. The incorrect shifter bothers me - of course they did that to accommodate the TH350. The exhaust pipe rounting needs help also. Otherwise, it's a pretty car. As you are, I remain skeptical of questionable cars that have gone through a complete resto - how much was added when the car was apart. Note that $20K is reserve not met.

They had it locally on Craigslist for a while for $40k, Guess that didn't bring too many offers. Its a regular car dealership, not one of the classic car flip shops, so who knows what the story is. Took it on trade in? Owner or MGRs personal car?

Looks like a nice car. If anyone is seriously interested, i'd be happy to swing by there and check it out for them. Its only about 20mins from my home.

They just jumped into the Musclecar sales. They have many. My bud just sold them his GTA 390 Mustang.

You are correct, it is not a factory built 442. Note the dual master cylinder, painted front fender bolts at the cowl, no body color paint on the verticals inside the fender louvers, etc. Nice car but some details are incorrect. Color is a non-original shade of blue; cowl tag shows C = provincial white.
