Yeah but a 425 with A letter heads would not be hard to find.... for correctness.

To me, I don't care about #match, especially for a car that's not in such high demand. If anything, it gives me a bargaining chip when negotiating the price.

I'm not seeing $6k, but it's a start. It's had a nose job- that's a Dynamic grille. Its 455 obviously has a stick crank, though.

The trick will be finding a 425 with a stick crank to go back original. And after fooling with Starfires for 40+ years, the engine is what makes a Starfire.

Seems like a well optioned car, AM/FM, AC, Tilt Wheel? Reverb, cruise control, console. Cranks can be easily drilled to accept pilot bearing, that should not be an issue. 2L on the trim tag would say it all without dispute and that would be the "smoking gun" so to speak.

That thing could suck up a ton of cash and years of labor. It is very cool. My wife would send me packing if I bought it....tempting yet not worth it.

Re 65 vert

I talked to the fella selling it for another guy I offered 4500 for it he wouldn't budge. Says 6000 firm I love the car, just couldn't justify the 6000.

Tough call, it needs a lot of love. I'd bide my time and see what happens. Give him your number and tell him to call you if he changes his mind or check on it sometime in the future.
