Wow, this was a nice clean, rust free buy for $20k. It wasn't "perfect" as it had some paint flaws but the car was rust free. It had an Olds 350 engine with EFI. Would have been a nice cruiser. For $20k, that was a good deal for a G Body Olds.

No T-tops is a plus for me as the car is SO MUCH quieter and a stronger roof line without them. I had T-tops on a G Body and they rattled, leaked and squeaked. The sun would bake the interior to 100F+ in the summer due to solar heat gain. Door window seal to T-Top seal never sealed properly. Lot of wind noise when closed and at highway speeds. A solid roof on a G Body car like that is actually a very quiet ride. 95% of the time, the T-tops would remain on and they were not practical if stopping and parking the car unattended. Removing the t-tops and storing them was a very nail biting experience as damaging the glass was easy to do if you weren't careful. I believe that is why T-tops was a novelty that has faded from the car world. Corvette's have a targa top but that is much lighter, easier to store, not made of glass and provides a very tight air seal when installed. 100x better than T-Tops
For $20k that was a good deal. I would have bid on that car...

Agreed on the T-Tops. I'm glad they are only on my 79 H/O wherein it's driven on nice days. For something driven more, a flat top or a sunroof car would be better, but good luck finding the latter. The T-Tops take up gobs of room in the trunk and the day you leave them home on a drive will be the day it unexpectedly rains.
Plus I'm noticing they are getting heavier and heavier every year

A lot of the T-Tops leaked, especially in strong rains. The seals were lack luster to begin with and with time, it only got worse. Most T-Top "G" body cars I encounter have extensive rust on the T-Top roof rail area. It requires extensive metal work to remove and make whole again.
I had t-tops on my 87 442. I always thought they were cool and wanted a Cutlass with them! Never again, I would not buy another car with them, unless it's a steal. I have a factory sunroof in my my Alero and love it.

I bought a 75 Hurst Olds about two months ago and of course it has Hurst Hatches (the original T Tops). I love them but the car stays in the garage and is not out in bad weather. They leak a little and I would not want them on a daily driver. The 75 has a small trunk and they do take up lots of room. They are a lot easier to pop out than it is to put the top down on my 54 convertible.
Agreed, Olds gave you the 3.73's, a 200-4r, an awesome gauge cluster, the appearance factor, almost apologizing for the crappy 307 and begging you to do an engine swap.
