Yes, Dave, the 79 is out in the driveway under a car cover and a tarp. If things go well it'll be back in the garage soon next to the pace car. You're right! I will miss the Holiday coupe when it's gone. I was looking for a 1977 Delta 88 pace car back when I found the Holiday. A bunch of things came together and the timing was absolutely perfect when the Holiday presented itself. I couldn't pass it up. It was like it was ordained. I've enjoyed the car over the last 5 years, taking it to many car shows and cruise-ins to the tune of almost 11,000 miles (over 2K per year). I will miss it. It's a great car. I don't feel too badly, though. The Holiday is a Delta 88 coupe and so is the pace car so... I have a Delta 88 coupe no matter what. I've been heavily into cars since I graduated in 1986. I've been to hundreds, if not, thousands of car shows all over New England over the years and I can say for certain that I've NEVER seen a 1977 pace car in person. Now I have one.

SOLD!
The car has been sold to a new owner. Hopefully he'll enjoy it as much as I have.
Thanks.

Phil, I feel your pain, I just dropped off my 1996 white Cutlass Supreme to the buyer yesterday. I swear you get used to something being around. And then it isn't. I take comfort in knowing I sold it to a highly qualified buyer who knows these cars and will appreciate it. I hope you found one of those in the buyer of your car as well. Congrats.

It's funny how we get attached to all sorts of material objects, including cars. The longer we own them, the harder it is to part with them. I'm sure that's one of the many reasons that some people become hoarders. They just can't let anything go because there's some memory or feeling associated with it. It's like my 1979 Hurst Olds. I've owned it for 27 years now. It runs and drives but needs work, including a possible engine rebuild. It's tired. Otherwise, it needs LOTS of little things fixed to get it where I'd like it to be. Probably should be restored, but there's no money to do it. It's been off the road since 2019 and it just sits in my garage under a cover. I pull it out 2 or 3 times a month and let it run in the driveway but then it goes back in and covered again. My wife wants me to sell it since I don't use it. I'm sure an enthusiast out there with the proper funds could make this a great car again but I just can't let it go. It's part of the family. Could you disown one of your own children or other family member?

Yes, I'll keep the tinted windows. I like them. I'm going to do a complete tune-up and a few misc repairs to have more piece of mind when the car show season starts late next month. I'll have my local transmission shop do the fluid and filter and take care of a minor leak that's leaving spots in my garage. I'll have the brakes gone through just so there are no surprises later. I'm ordering the reproduction graphics kit from Phoenix Graphics and will install it after I take care of some cosmetic issues. New BF Goodrich radial T/A RWL tires are in the near future. The whitewall tires just don't cut it. It should have RWL's.

You might want to consider Cooper Cobras. I think BFG still has the browning issue. Cooper changed the font and I think they look as good as the T/A's.

I was looking at those also. The BF's are about $185 per tire while the Coopers are $140 each for the 215/70 R15 size..

The BFG raised brown letter issue has been going on for years. They know about it yet don't seem to give a ****. I'm very happy with the Coopers.

Not sure if Firestone is still making them but I put a set of their Indy 500 RWL on my 77 Pace car before I found a set of NOS tires at Hershey.

Phil, I went with the Coopers on my 79 H/O last year. I'm very happy with them and the letters are staying white. My preference would have been that they kept the older letter style, but I'm just one person. The narrowest Cooper size is 215. With 225's you might get wheelwell rub. BF makes a 205 but the heck with them with their prices and brown letters.

I’ll post some pictures of it this weekend! I ended up putting 15” wheels with white letter tires and dual exhaust.

Looking forward to seeing the wheels and tires

What wheels did you get? THis car has the 5x5 bolt pattern so I assume none of the Olds Rallys will fit

I ordered a wheel adapter that’s 3/4 of an inch that makes it from 5x5 to 5x4.75 so I just got 15” rally wheels

I was thinking the same thing.

I love the wheels, not sure of the tires. She looks like the car has got some shine back on the paint too.

Ryan,
The car looks great! I hope it has been good to you without any issues. I do like it better with the rally wheels and RWL tires. I had thought about doing it when I owned it but I didn't want to use the adapters. The 5 x 5 bolt pattern made up my mind for me. Besides, I think the wire wheel hubcaps and black wall tires gave it more of a sleeper look. Did you repaint the car? It really looks good! If I remember correctly you said you were switching to true dual exhaust. Did you do it? If so,
did you modify the existing crossmember or did you replace it? Crossmembers.com has ones to fit the B-body cars. I am doing dual exhaust on my pace car and will probably use their part. Good luck with the car.

I actually changed the axles and front spindles to change the bolt pattern to 5x4.75 and I also bought a double hump cross member for the exhaust. Same paint I just had it cut and polished a couple times. It’s been a really great car. I love it

That is very cool. As much as I like the one you recently purchased, that drag car is great!

What are the odds of finding two identical 78 Holiday 88s without A/C?
