I like it, often see much less for much more out there. Looks to be legit 442 if broadcast card is authentic. Numerals look lined up well, and striping possibly original, although leading edge driver side steel hood typically should have Oldsmobile script, if I remember my 72 correctly. Trumpets look a bit out of place sans cut outs. Would enjoy seeing it in person.
In 72 you need to look at the vin to see what engine it came with.
A W29 optioned 1972 442 could have a base 350 and single exhaust.
If that's the case with this car someone added dual exhaust with the trumpets but didn't do the bumper.
Hope he calls you back, if it’s not a rust bucket or has any major hidden issues might be a nice deal. A well optioned one repaint convertible ‘72 442, with (hopefully) W-29 documentation - better if it had a big block, but of course would probably be commensurately priced.
Interestingly, the first ad depicts the script on the hood, however, the second does not.
The first wasn't a 442 whereas the second is. I'd assume the 442's didn't have the Cutlass emblem on the front of the hood. Just my reasoning......I'm no expert BTW!
All five cars depicted in the two contemporary Oldsmobile ads posted above are 1972 442s,
I’m somewhat partial to the V engines, but certainly would enjoy an X code.
Yeah, I must be getting more blind in my old age. I didn't notice the 442 in the grill in the first ad. But then, I should have noticed it had the grills of a 442? My bad!

Nice car though.
No 1972 A-body cars had Cutlass emblems on the hood. The 1972 442s DID have Oldsmobile script emblems on the front of the hood, however, at least on the metal hoods. This is clearly documented in Section 11 of the 1972 PIM. The car shown in the second ad is not correct. Keep in mind that the cars used in these ads were pre-production models and may not reflect the final production version. The ads were typically laid out prior to the start of production.
