1970 W31 Cutlass post coupe SOLD
SOLD
Many of you here know this car and my only hope is that it finds a home that will appreciate the car for what it is. I have the opportunity to purchase the 442 that started me off on this wonderful Oldsmobile journey back in 1979, a 1972 W30 X code 4 speed. This is what prompted me to sell the W-31
1970 W-31 Cutlass post coupe, Burnished gold with black stripes, black interior, 1 of 116 produced. This one is a 4 speed car. All numbers matching from carb to oil pan, 255 carb, harmonic balancer, intake, trans, M-21, 3:91 rear, ect. Reverse linkage, starter, rear wing, just to name a few, this car runs strong with no disappointments mechanically. This car deserves a completed restoration to make it perfect, but very presentable. Wanted to keep it road worthy with some new parts including:
Paint touch up, new rear bumper, new rug, recovered front bench seat, much more.
Serious inquiry’s only, no picture collectors or tire kickers, this car needs a good home to somebody who appreciates it as it is and is into and knows W-31’s. and not a “flipper”. Pictures provided by email only, along with original paperwork including protect-o plate and other documents, and complete owner history. I will provide my Authentication with the final sale. I realize it’s all the money but this is a rare Oldsmobile.

Since Jeff doesn't seem to be around anymore I'll say it:
PART IT
J/K
I've seen the car in person.... It's a nice unrestored (I think) example
Steve, you didn't say it in the description but doesn't it have mostly original paint?

Stevie, Stevie, Stevie, just like the W-30 Brian is selling, I have no "room at the inn". My addiction is getting the best of me, and you have me thinking. Would everyone here have me committed for buying your car and having it refinished as an "ELUSIVE RALLYE 350 W-31". You all know I'm only kidding, but in this day of bogus trim tags it just could happen. I really hope you get lucky and hit the lottery so you can keep this car AND get the other one. I'll spread the word.

Tell me it's not true. You're selling your baby ? First we have 6'-5" 350lb football players claiming they are being bullied and now Steve is parting ways with his absolutely bad *** W-31 ? We must be in the Twilight Zone.
I can still see the acorns flying out of the trumpets ! Anyway, whomever gets this car is in for a treat. Having had the pleasure of being a passenger when Steve put her through her paces I can testify that she is all she's cracked up to be. They don't come more legit.
Good Luck Brother.

Yes plans have changed quite frequently! Opportunities arise and things get put on hold, resources get put in other prospects. It's been a whirlwind. It's all settled now and we're moving forward.
I'm happy for Steve. I'm happy to finally get a project started. It's all good.

Not trying to dis your car at all, but I had a '70 F85 & it had the rubber floor mat, I thought all f85's did? I know you said new rug, if it was a rubber floor mat maybe it was all torn up? Also, I know it's manual brakes, drums or discs? I think disc brake cars had the dual bail master cylinders?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There were 207 F85 W31's and 116 Cutlass 'S' post coupe W31's. I was fortunate to own a green/green/gold stripe,in very similar condition. All original,nothing missing.
This X car must be special. I found one in Virginia that is being researched. It helps when you have a VA State Police drive around all day and locate stuff.
Dave,
It's OK if you get placed in an institution. Just make sure the garage is large enough. If they ask for previous medical records, just tell them they are located at the office of DR OLDS.

Congrats on that buy. I have been lucky enough to drive that car with steve and can honestly say, it is an animal. Truly a time capsule into what a W31 with no power steering or power brakes would have been like in 1970. The car runs strong and sounds amazing and the 3.90s make it just go like a raped ape. Steve if your reading this, tell me you remember the time we pulled into the fast food joint and prowled after that chevelle and the time I almost spun us out near burger king. Good times and awesome car. Enjoy her!!!
