How is it every car that stirs my interest is 3000 miles away? Other than the P/S and P/B it's pretty much what I'm looking for and they can be changed. Oh well, maybe fate will intervene.

I made sure and posted pictures of all the "bad" on the car as well. In 1971, the original owner sideswiped a car (lost control with biasply tires in the wet) and then got it repaired by an Oldsmobile dealership with all NOS parts. This is why on the passenger side the paint is worse then on the drivers side. The package tray has looked the way it has since I can remember, 25+ years. Nothing has ever been done to the car to for, sure keep its originality.

Just never had a taste for them makes me think of a 4 door car when I open the door on a post LOL. VERY Beautiful car though, one of my favorites and I have been in the serious inquiry section of the Rallye market for about 3 months now.

My biggest hurdle currently is finding a non post, and with a fair price. Anyways, gorgeous car been watching this ad, figured this would have had alot of bites by now. Seems like the classic market is severely slow, and people just don't want to pay the prices that cars were going for years ago. 23k in a tough pill to swallow in a down turning market and with banks being so tight on loans right now it's putting the hurt on everyone.

 

Before I bought the car I have now I was on the hunt for a clean Rallye with a 4 speed. I couldn't find one that I thought was worthy of the investment. And now you come along. Dang it! A friend had one of these when I was a kid and it was quick as hell. Must have had the 3.90 gear. Great looking car. Too bad the market is so damn soft. Good luck with the sale, because it WILL sell!

 

As nice as the car is most will want to paint it. The passenger side is especially in need of attention.

Doing a paint job on a Rallye means stripes & bumper restoration too. Add those costs to your asking price & you now know why this car is still for sale.

Best of luck with the sale. The market is tough for all cars. Only the premium & most desireable cars are holding their value.

 

I am very aware of the potential repaint! This is why I have it as best offer as well. Its hard judging the price of a car like this but I think I have priced it fairly with seeing what else is for sale and what have sold. Most cars have way more miles and are automatic. Now I know that a 4 speed is not worth thousands of dollars extra, but is a lot more desireable. I also have appraisal paperwork from the early 2000's with the passenger side lookig the same. The number they came up with was $29k. I know the market isn't as strong as then, but I know the collectability is there!

 

This one is from '09, but there's a big price gap, and this one was very nice as I recall, but trans etc, I do not remember.

 

Well, no excuses but that is a hardtop, most likely automatic car. (Has ac).

A post coupe does not make it more valuable,(only to those who really want a post coupe) and this one had excellent body and paint. Whether a 4spd or not, that does not command that much of a price gap.

 

I do think in a limited production run of a vehicle, as in this case, it may make a little differance...

 

I agree the F85 POST 4SPD and then sport coupe 4spd have a higher $ then the holiday Rallye 350 I say in my option your RALLYE 350 is worth $18k-19k in the state that it is in

 

I was thinking $19,500 was fair to both the buyer & the seller so we are on the same page.

The market is soft on all Oldsmobiles except W machines & exceptional examples of 442s. I will be very surprised if the car fetches $20K or more. That said I hope a buyer comes along & gives you all that you are asking.

Any car is only worth what someone with cash in their hand is willing to pay & in this market I have learned first hand that sellers will have to be patient to find the right buyer.

This is indeed a very rare car, not many 4 speeds made. It is my opinion, that everyone on this board and other similiar car boards, are looking for a deal. I think you would be better off selling it on ebay. I made the mistake of selling my numbers matching 67 BB Roadster on a Corvette forum. They blew up my mailbox, because it was a deal, my bad. Then loosers started talking smack about be saying I had promised it to them and such. No such thing, bad experience for me. Good luck.

 

My only wish is that this car goes to a good caring home who can appreciate it!

I think RallyeKid is right on the money on your car. IMHO. With the needed repairs 18k-19k is a realistic number and even though the economy is in the tank, someone will come through for you on that price. Good luck and I hope you get a little more!
