Wow. It just blows my mind that people make such huge mistakes like that and they just go with it. Seriously what the hell? And some buyer is also that clueless??

If this car is a real 442, then why does it have a voltage regulator on the firewall?

I can't speak to this particular car, but my 1969 H/O also has a regulator on the firewall. I put it there back in my young and stupid days (about 1981) when I needed an alternator and used one off of a parts car. That doesn't mean it isn't a real H/O.

I have thought the same thing looking at sales ads for high dollar cars.

Seems to me if I was selling a high dollar car, I’d do as much research and “sweat equity” as needed to justify the asking price. And if I was seriously considering spending high dollar money on a car, I’d definitely want to make sure it was a wise investment.

Or maybe I can’t wrap my head around the idea of spending big money for a really nice but poorly represented car because in the minds of of the buyers, 100k isn’t “big money”.

Pent up COVID spending sprees, many wealthy have much disposable income and savings, and have been unable to enjoy their high dollar discretionary spends, luxury travel etc.

Something is better than nothing, not saying it makes sense.
