1970 Cutlass Convertible

1970 Cutlass Convertible that is owned by a good friend of mine and currently living in my garage. He bought the car from his original owner neighbor in the early 90's. Classic story of growing up next door and always telling them to let him know when they want to sell it. Shortly after he graduated high school they were ready to sell. The car has been in a garage all it's life and hasn't seen daily driver status since the mid to late 80's. Car has 71,000 miles, 350 2 barrel, zero rust, A/C, power steering, brakes, driver seat, top, windows, locks, tilt, AM/FM stereo, 8 track. We added the SSIs with Radial Wide Ovals a few years ago and the sport wheel but still have the stock steering wheel and steel wheels with caps. A new radiator was installed

but the original is in my attic. Also just had new seals put in the transmission and a fuel pump. It was repainted at our local Oldsmobile Dealership shortly after they bought it. Unfortunately this car only gets out a few times a year for parades or if I drive it to work. We were going to install new Legendary seat covers but he doesn't want to wait a year. Also could use a new top but honestly the top hasn't been up in at least 2 years. The car never fails to start and runs and drives great. He's asking $24,000 or best offer. If you're looking for a nice solid original car that only needs some minor cosmetic touches, this is the car for you

I actually found that exactly as it sits sitting at the curb for the trash about 8 years ago. It belongs to me but everything has a price.😀

Years ago I flipped a $50 garage sale boy's Pea Picker for $650 - Had thought about replacing some of its more worn pieces but used/repro parts were going for top $$ too, so made more sense to sell it as I got it.

They were the cool bike to have when I was a kid in the 70's - twin reflectors in the spokes, the tall flag mounted behind the seat and a battery light on the front.

Best bike I ever had, note the 5 speed shifter mounted between the legs, apparently a rare and short lived option. Not to hijack, but before we all drove an olds, we rode a bike!

Nice Cutlass convertible GN, GLWS

Great looking ride. How often is it driven? Would you drive it 800 miles?

Honestly? I don't doubt it would make it just fine, the only thing that would bother me is getting caught in rain. This car hasn't seen rain in years. I get that it's just water but as far as the windows sealing up and such, can't say 100%. The transmission fluid was just changed and I could change the oil, other than that it should be Power Tour ready.

Any idea why the front right-hand (passenger's side) fender was replaced?

The original owner, an elderly couple, hit the side of the garage door pulling in or out way back when. It was repaired at the local Oldsmobile dealer.

Fair enough - that's cool & honest. I could definitely see that happening. It's a nice looking car. While 70-72 fenders are interchangeable, 1970 had smooth (non-ridged, non-corrugated) fenders while ridged (corrugated) became mandatory from 1971 forward. GLWS.

I asked my buddy years ago. He knows the complete history of the car and he has nothing to hide.

It was raining last night and I didn't want to pull it outside. Top is there but it could use a new one. I honestly hadn't even seen it in probably 2 years.

I've only driven it a few times but they seem ok. But I drove my other friends 69 Vette with actual bias ply redlines and it drove fine to me too.

To the top with a lower price. My buddy called this morning and said the Cutlass needs to go. So I figured I'd drop the price and try to get this car to a new owner. This would be a great car to spend the winter detailing and hit the cruises next spring. Price is definitely negotiable so don't be afraid to ask questions.

I can get some after work today. I don't have a lift but I'll do my best to show the floors and trunk area.

Car is sold and on the truck to Florida. If a mod can delete this the buyer asked that it be deleted. If not it can live on for eternity.

Glad to see it found a new home. We do not delete classified threads, there is pricing history for other sellers to use for reference.

Thank you. I thought that was the rule but told him I would ask. And to see it go was bittersweet 😕

I think the buyer is concerned with people knowing the sales price - you can just go in and edit your posts to remove them

I don't know why, he just asked. Personally I don't like when guys edit out the price of certain things since it gives reference for someone else at a later date. I will say it sold a little cheaper than the posted price. But, unless you plan to flip it, I don't see the issue with leaving an ad or the pricing.

I agree with you 110%. I was just saying why the buyer might want it removed. I know I have been looking for a 442 for a while and missed two over the past six months that sold and were flipped for 20K a month later - so personally I like seeing what someone paid
