1969 Olds 442 - Original Owner - $13,000 [NOT MINE]

Found this ad and wanted to share just because you don't see that many original owner cars out there that often anymore.

From the ad:
Original owner Olds w/ only 42,000 miles! All original / unmolested--Good condition--very clean and runs good. 400 V8 / Auto Trans. / Air Conditioning / Power Steering

I reposted the ad with the pictures and they can be found here: http://www.oldsmobilecentral.com/for...iladelphia.php

From the vin posted on the original CL ad, it looks like its also a Canada built car: 3448791134264.

Seems like a solid car at that price.

Looks like a solid survivor, even has the tape on the radiator cap.

What a steal, someone better grab it up. To find a 442 of that vintage that hasn't been customized, hacked or modified is a rarity and with only 42,000 miles that is a real treat.

Tony,

I hope you get it but there's no way those are original fenders. I've yet to see a set of original, non rusted 68-69 fenders....

Hey Mike,
Here's a set of original, non-rusted '68 fenders that came off of a '68 Cutlass S. I'm keeping them in reserve, just in case I might need them some day. They came off of a car in a junkyard in Salem, OR, in the mid-80s. For the life of me, I could not figure out why that car was in the junkyard to begin with, but the fenders were in outstanding condition!

Randy,

I picked up a rust free set two years ago also. They were purchased in the Southwest in the eighties and were never put on a car after that. I sold them to Joe P.

I guess my point is I've never seen a set that have actually been on a car for 45 years that weren't rusted. I think this red car has probably been painted sometime in the past. That still doesn't make it a bad deal at $12k.

I spoke to the guy John. He is an estate attorney who knows nothing about old cars. There was someone going to look at it last night and I am going to call him back tomorrow to see what the status is. My guess is it will be sold when I call tomorrow. He said he has to call the family for apporval before any sale could be made. Then the money deposited into the estate account before the car would be released. A bit of a run around but I guess thats how its done in an estate sale? I will let you all know what transpires after tomorrows phone call.

Honestly kids, after just receiving a car 2 weeks ago, I now have the 3 cars I want, but I will tell you that I know someone personally in PA. that has the inside track on this car. Whether he gets it or not I guess we'll wait and see.

I actually only thought you had two. Did you keep that Cranbury colored convertible with the sienna gut?

I called on Friday like the attorney had instructed. Went right to his voicemail. Since his friend was told he had first shot I believe the ad was placed as a "formality" so the family didnt think they were being screwed with a lowball offer by someone he knows. With the information I've been given, I highly doubt I will end up with this car.
