Note the battery cable running over the valve cover...just sayin'. That's interesting to note.
Has no Demmer paperwork available that's still can be found, but based on the VIN, it appears it's a high 500s or low 600s Demmer numbered car. Just a WAG. The document board shows a build card, which could also prove it's pedigree. Seems to show a secondary Hurst window sticker content card as well. The transmission tag looks legit IMO. Based on everything I see, it looks like a genuine car. Obviously you'd need a bit more info to back that up, but I'd go out on a limb and say this was a gennie.
The 1111989 distributor is also the W-32 distributor. I ran across one once. ONCE! Then I sold it to Kurt Karch along with my spare intake manifold. Date code looks like 9D29, meaning April 29, 1969. Thus, it may make sense on the time-line if you figure a week or so (maybe less) to be from manufacture to installation in early to mid-May (no idea on target production week for this car). The original early distributors were the uber-rare 1111973, to which I BELIEVE most, if not all, were built in January 69, but I could be incorrect on that. Still, the 989 is a cool distributor to have. The 973s were the predecessor to the 979 on the 70 W-30s. Used the same vacuum pod, even.
